I got a ph55 by milwaukee I believe for $50 and its waterproof and works great and came with calibration solutions from www.eseasongear.com (and free shipping). And for tds I got a tds3 I would not recommend, although it was worth it for the $18 I paid. Calibration was finicky at first but once breaking the screw in (it wouldn't move at first) it works, but its still extremely finicky and doens't read 4 digits (reads 100 10x for 1000, so its a little hampered for calibrating in 1386 I set itt to 139 10x, which is clearly not that accurate). Try and find one that is 0-9999 and won't read out a 10x.

i use eseasongear aswell, and i recently broke a milwaukee PH600, the cheapest one u can get, and it was rock solid for a year now, also i like my HM PPM meter, but you gotta watch out for the ones that only can read to 999ppm, they are like $13 but im sure you will wind up exceeding 1000ppm, pikced up the milwaukee PH52 with temp

Thanks for the reply morrisgreenberg. I looked at all there meters on eseasongear and they have some nice looking stuff. I like the ph52 and the t76 for the tds meter. What do you guys think about the t76?

hey hunt, i love my HM but if i would have seen that t76, i would have spent the extra money and got it, it measures all 4 digits, and from my exp. milwaukee is good, i basically just got the PH version of that one. and if you ever went into a hydro store or online these meters are usually atleast $100...e*seasongear say they are a milwaukee and hanna distributor...they are like meter heaven

Price was an important factor...The one i want is a multi tool...I like the tds meter very reliable so far I believe. I also like the PH pen...I still am not sure it a Hanna like it was advertised. I like them but nicer equipment is always on the wish list.

pH pen you want waterproof and 2 point calibration, because pH tends to be different in different areas of a solution before its been distributed well and 2 point calibration wins. The reason I bought mine is because it came with 4.0 and 7.0 calibration solution, but since I need to buy those anyways now that doesn't make a difference.
TDS get what you want, waterproof is nice but not necessary, I suggest 4 point readout like a tds4, its cheaper than the tds3 because it doesn't put out temp also.

also do yourself a favor, just for shits and giggles i still use the GH drops, this comes in handy in hydro, if your PH flucuates and you dont want believe the meter reenforce your test results
