''' The 7th Official Party Cup Grow Competition Voting Thread '''

I'm gonna be honest here, the combination of freakish yields, mofos just posting lame-o posts and pix in order just to win stuff during the comp, my own shitty little entrant, the semi-annual RIU network hiccup and some less than fun final posts have left me little choice but to not to give a fig about #7 any more, (sorry), so in respect to our tremendous host @Socalrob I have used his contestant numbers from the first post in this thread and a random number generator, (https://www.random.org/), to decide my voting this comp but with the exception that my Blue Ribbon vote goes to @sgt john, a class act as always.

And a big shout-out to the old school crew, (you know who you guyz are). Wasn't it a lot more fun when it was no prizes? IDK, I feel that way.

So without further delay the first number selected for 3rd place is...............................#3 = @farmasensist Congratulations!

And 2nd place is:
#4= ME!!!!!! No huh? OK, OK, redo. Which is #3 which I'm assuming I can't vote for someone twice so the next number is.......#9 @JimmyIndica, which just fucking kills me but hey, what the hey. If I'm gonna bitch about people's honesty then I guess I gotta be honest too.

And 1st prize, (Oh God please be someone I actually like) goes to............#1 @6ixclouds. OK I can live with that.

So todays Pick 4 is: 1, 9, 3, 16.

BTW that is one monster plant Stan but with my limited knowledge and experience it just makes it impossible for me to comprehend how one can do what you did according to the rules. Like that story about the Indians looking at Columbus' ships and they couldn't comprehend what the fuck they were looking at. Still, that is an amazing looking plant in a 16 oz. cup!+:???:

So I guess that's #7 for me. Sour grapes? Let's just put it this way. Sometimes you just know something is rotten in Denmark Amsterdam.

Personally I'd like to say to the next host just trash the rules except the 16 oz. cup. Use whatever seeds, whatever light schedule, whatever. Then no one can be suspicious, no one can bitch and complain about others, and no one who follows the rules can be cheated because no rules = no cheating. Just a grower and his cup and whatever he/she wants.

It is clear that there is a "good o'l boys" mentality going on in this comp. A lot of stroking each other off just because of previous acquaintance or whatever.
I hope by the end of the week Socalrob just closes this thing and takes shit into his own hands. There were a handful of us who took this serious and posted on time every time and out of respect for us the rest need to get their shit together or just bow out

Next comp the rules need tightened, not tossed. I would like to see a small window for germination (say 2 weeks tops), and then your shit better be done by 90 days after that or your automatic DQ - my $.02 anyways

I think never be able to keep the autos/veg from happening know matter what rules there are. I think the best rules would be 16oz cup 2week window for germ and 2 week window for finish 90 days total. 3months more manageable for pepes. This one is 4months + now and getting old.Lets start another.
90 day open with a 16 oz cup

Saturday will be the last day for voting. This round did run a little too long but overall I still think it was a good round. In the beginning I pushed the registration period to a month to get as many people involved as possible. In hindsight I do agree germination should be a two week period. I still think this contest is one of the best things RIU has going. Anyone can enter this and have fun along the way as this plays out. I'm done second guessing what I should have done differently, my stint is almost over but these suggestions should be helpful for the next host. Sunday the voting will be tallied and we will be done with this round.

Can't please everybody. Just hope I can get my pieces and parts for my light before the next one starts.

@Socalrob, you did a solid job on this
It has been a fun experience and was great up till voting time.
It's almost strange how so many just petered out or vaporized come closing time.
The lack of enthusiasm by so many who were repeat "cuppers" is the most frustrating thing for those who made a solid go of it

Being a rookie to this cup grow I did notice those who truly grew in a 16oz cup got the lowest yield (most realistic yield??) while those with modded cups grew pounds. I know they are within the rules but the modded cups took all the fun out of it for me cause its just not within the spirit of the game. I wanted to see what happened when I grew a plant limited in a 16oz cup...I learned a lot and made it more obvious how hard it would be to get some of the results I've seen. I was hoping everyone would realize this when voting and just vote for those with the most realistic results and not highest yield. But good luck to everyone when the final tally comes!

I dont know about that. Im good friends with quite a few people on here. I probably produce some of the frostiest and dankest quality But the yield is the smallest. I never win. I only ever get 2-3 votes period.

Yeah theres some obvious cheaters. Some of the plant sizes is not possible with 12 / 12 from seed. Even in 10 gals..

Afew got legit weights with small plants. Those produced huge dense buds. Some of these 3 and 4 foot tall plants is a bit ridiculous. Bait an switch probably.

Im still going through the pics to make my votes

@PSUAGRO. I'll hand out my first place vote your way, you deserve at least some recognition for your efforts. Steadily you've improved results and have continued to make this contest enjoyable for me. Thank you

@hyroot My second place vote goes to you. You seem to have a knack for producing some fuckin frosty nugs! Every shot of your cup in full flower made me miss the days of scratch and sniff... My hats off to the dankness sir!

@snowboarder396 Is more than deserving of my third place vote! Quality, consistent and top notch! There may have been another frostier or heavier entry, but due to lack of any real effort on their part in the department of a final update/smoke report, I had to steer away from them. This contest for me is about BAG APPEAL, you gotta sell it because I can't smell it! You were a prime example of a quality final post, Thank you for helping to make this great!

@farmasensist is my blue ribbon choice. A quality frosty entry and never once was ashamed to spend almost 3 1/2 months on 2.5 grams. Learning is a HUGE part of this contest, as well as honesty; and coming into it as a first timer and finishing shows your capability of both, while showcasing your skills. Kudos to you!

May the phenotype gods bless all of your next cup grows!!!!!!

I don't think there was any cheating going on with the "Elephant in the room" plant.
I would refer all here:
https://www.rollitup.org/t/the-12-12-from-seed-thread.416589/page-594#post-12144423

I would chalk it up to #1 - Bomb genetics & #2 - HYDRO
I wish I knew what that white widow was crossed with, looks like a commercial croppers dream!
Almost making me do a double take at Advanced LED too

None of those were in cups. I wasn't referring to them. If you do 12/12 from seed in 10 gals like green santa did. 3-4 zips is possible. He also get some plants that yielded less than a half ounce in same pots. 3-4 ounces is not possible in 16 oz of soil. No matter the genetics...

Ive grown 12/12 from seed in all sizes. My best yeild was 2 zips of hindu skunk in a 5 gal. .

Anyone whose grown 12/12 fs method know what is possible and what isnt. . The average yeild is 1 oz in a 3 gal. Again we're talking cups. Theres several of plants that were vegged for a while. And they just did a bait and switch with their camera.

I call shenanigans on the 3 and 4 foot tall and taller plants.

Weren't the two largest yielding cups in this comp in hydroton and dwc?

Only one dwc yielded huge. There were others that werent hydro.

Like I've said every comp my votes go to the best quality. Not the best yield.. Some of the huge yielders look pretty schwagg.

White widow is a huge yielder. A 10 weeker. It tastes and smells exactly like train wreck. And I hate train wreck. White widow thc levels are around 18% - 20%. So not very strong. Most of what I grow is 25%-30% thc.

Do any of you guys need an exaust fan? I need to buy one with a controller and the one I have is a wee bit too loud. It's hard to sell something like that on eBay and I respect anybody that grows their own so just pay shipping and it's yours. 250 cfm fan tech btw
