first i want to say these threds are awesome.... a friend actaully was telling how great the garden was, after one look at their plants i was sold.. i plan on buying one with in the next few weeks, happend to stumble here.. but i do have a few questions left after reading... just to catch up!
a- how many and in what order should we trim to make it short and bushy? b- what type of air flow should we have? c- whats the deal with ph?

any details or tips you could share would be great!

What kind of light is good for flowering? My main concern is heat because this is a closet grow and I don't want a fire-hazard. Are the aerogarden nutes really that bad? I am basically broke after buying this, so I can't afford anything else except maybe the new lights after 4 weeks. I have lots of seeds, should I put one in each pod?

All I need to produce is enough for about 1/2 oz. per month or so.

Basically I just want to keep it small and as simple as possible. It sounds like I can expect the total time from seed to harvest is like 8-10 weeks? The reason i ask is that I have it on a free trial for 5 weeks or so. If it isn't doing well for me at that time I can send it back and only have paid the $20 for shipping. After 5 weeks though, it sounds like I will already be flowering maybe?

Obviously if I use better nutes or better lights I would get a better yield, but this machine seemed really low maintenance and simple, plus it has a free 36 day trial.

it is simple just use fox farms and get some side lights and an airstone it's pretty easy other than feeding it every day i have 3 plants and 3 clones

I like your setup r32115. What's an airstone, and what's it for?

Is it stupid for me to try to do a grow using everything stock on the aerogarden? ie: no other nutes or lights, just a separate lights timer for flowering.

I may be able to find some side lights before I flower, but I'm not sure.

Just looking at the design, I am thinking I could probably build my own "aerogarden" for pretty cheap, which I may do eventually, but I kind of want to do an experiment just to see how well this thing can perform on it's own.

So far I have 7 seeds in the aerogarden since Thursday. 4 have already germinated! I have no idea what I'm going to get from these seeds. They are a mix of bag seeds I've collected over the years from California, Oregon, and Mexico. When selecting my seeds I tried to pick seeds that all looked different from each other, some light, some dark, some with spots, and different sizes. I am hoping that will give me more varieties, but who knows.

An airstone (a way of diffusing and spreading tiny o2 bubbles) is connected to an air pump which pumps o2 through the airstone. The stone is under the water the pump above. O2 to your roots is a great thing.
As far as doing a stock aerogarden grow goes i have not done it so i cant really say, but i would recommend to get some other nutes and extra lights.
Thats all i done and got good enough results for me.

Do you need an airstone with the aerogarden? I thought the roots we out of the water in their little pods.

the airstone helps for the aerogarden by giving the roots more o2

i have only spent a total of $300 including ferts, and extra cfl, and aerogarden

red spectrum floro tube is a must

diyco2 is awesome (yeast, sugar, water, and a tube)

all is bagseed 4th pic is Nickie the Fuckin lobster queen (from boston) we think white widow or NYC DIESEL, Delilah is the first obvious indica, Grace is third obvious sativa, as well as Nickie, clones are from Delilahx2, and Nickie

Are all those plants in the aerogarden? I count 4, yeah?

Watch them closely, if this is the case. I grew 3 plants DWC in a 4 gallon container, one of the plants died off as the other two took control of the root space. It happened about half way through flower. One of the plants just didn't grow as well and started browning off, I chopped it down before it could die properly.

Day #4 from seed and out of 7 seeds I have 5 little sprouts. The other two seeds show no signs of life, so I replaced them with two new ones. I know this thing won't support 7 plants to full flower, but my thought is that I will end up with some males, so best to get as many going as possible. Once I can sex them, I'll weed out the males.

ya but how will you grow them to that size before you know they are males.. the aerogarden i dont think is meant for seven plants, if you think it is than i would like to hear your plan.

I just read this entire post (all 52 pages). All I can say is 'wow!' I am definitely sold on aeroponics. I don't know if I'll end up getting an AG, I'll probably end up building a custom system, but much good info here. Thanks to Tek especially.

Tek, have you thought of compiling all of your info into an faq to be made a sticky? Or have you done it already and I haven't searched enough yet?

Anywhoze, kudos to all of you!

P.S.- If any of you are yankees, like myself, you should be joining activist groups as well. The only way we're going to get this stuff legalized is with millions of voices. The petro-chemical, oil, and synthetic fiber industries all pour hundreds of millions of dollars into politicians pockets to keep this wonder plant under wraps.

Lovely post script. Welcome to rollitup.:hump:

The ladies are doing good other than the addition of fungus gnats and larvae tot her roots. I have ordered a natural bacteria that eats the larvae, and kills off the flies that lay eggs in the fungus that surrounds the stems in my aerogardens' medium. We have slight leaf curling due to the larvae and flies. We also have weird root growth from one of our clones. The pictures are Grace (sativa) Delilah (indica) and Nickie (sativa) I FIGURE 3 -4 MORE WEEKS AND IT WILL BE TIME TO HARVEST!!!
Depending on tricomes. delialah, and grace are covered with crystals.

p.s. with proper trimming, and root care, the plants will make it to harvest with no problem. trimming outer roots does no harm to the plants, and they are very happy, and healthy. If one was going to take over it would have been Delilah and it would have happened already.

They seem a little stretched. Are you flowering with the flouro's?

yes, delilah is stretched due to individual strain (indica), the others are sativa
So the indica stretched because the sativas are naturally taller so needed the lights further away?

What would really do you lots of good right now, is fitting a HPS lamp to try and increase your yield. If you only have 3-4 weeks flowering left, really you should be seeing decent sized colas at this stage. Those flourescent lamps can be held 2" from the plants for optimum useage, but you'd do well to fit a HPS lamp.

OK so it is 10 days into my grow and I have made some changes. I added a 18" flouro tube and 3 CFLs. I also got an old aquarium air pump and an airstone, plus I have a fan and a timer for the lights, which are on 18/6. I am still using the AG nutes for now, but at half strength. I have 3 strong seedlings, and 4 more that are starting to pop up fast. When should I think about flowering? I have read as early as two weeks, which would be like Thursday for me, but that seems early. I don't need to grow huge on this grow, and small planta with modest yields would be fine, even one plant would be fine.
