very exciting reading on the led's. quick questions:

1) for flowering, would all red led's do, or should some blues be mixed in?

2) what would be the watts/sq foot be for this technology? it seems like 5-10 watts/sq foot would be plenty, but this seems too good to be true..........
1) yes on the site it says to toss in some blue's with the red.

2) i would use 10-20 watts per sq foot for better results, but yeah it seems too good to be true, but if you can grow tomato's under then, thats 100% garentee you can grow weed under them.

here is another site.. Eco Green Star Grow Bar

Here is a picture of the light: (I am not sure if it is warm or cool)
says its:
2600 lumens
42 watts

you response was
Those are Soft white bulbs, there the ones you want for veg, pick up some Warm light 42watt CFL when you want to flower.
i could go on if you'd like?

you said this to me.. so ya you did say i asked a question moron...

and about the CFL... if you dont know what it is, fucking read it... says cool white fucking idiot... which is for VEG not flower.. dumbshit

Warm = Flower Cool = Veg....

God how stupid can you be... keep posting, you're proving my point of how stupid you are...

ya my point is the guy had some cfl's labeled 'soft white' but if you look at the package the arrow is pointing to the redish part of the spectrum. i would say these are okay for flowering but you told him...

you told him those bulbs are for veg right? now is it reccomended to veg under those... no!

it's better to veg under 6500K's. so really he should go out and buy some 6500k cfl's and use those for vegging. and then use the ones he already has for flowering.

For all intents and purposes lets ignore jimmy and focus on the LEDs. I'm becoming more and more interested since I respect both your and godkas opinions. I'm excited for YOU to start growing. In an earlier post you mentioned combining LEDs with your HPS, you gotta do it your way of course but after would you consider a strictly LED grow? I'm one of the paranoid ones you talked about, I'm young and have a lot to loose. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on you, I'm just over the a year away from an environmental science degree and this could be an interesting subject for a thesis (not for growing marijuana of course ;)) There's an insane amount of (equally sketchy looking) LED websites out there, where were you planning on ordering from?

I am currently looking into LED traffic clusters (for stoplights and such) Im waiting on a response from them regarding specifications.

Yeah ive decided not to respond to jimmy, by puting the ignore button on him.
Yes im going to do two tests, Strickly LED's and then HPS and LEDS i think i will be purchasing off the sites ive listed or one of Godkas's sites.
i will be figureing it out along the way. :D
since you're one of the paranoid one's if this works effectivly, i will recomend it to you, with these there would be no worry of police. Radar detectors cannot pick these up very well.

You should be undetectable. The power usage is negligable. I bet I could run a sizeable op under 100w. Their operating temperature should need one fan maybe two at most. I figure anything under 90 isnt very suspiscious.

i would have to dissagree with this quote.
k dude like i said dont post here no more, nobody likes you dude... Twenty of these bars will = 5000watts of HID while only drawing out 27watts per bar thats 540watts of acual power thats being drawn... there ya go i refraised it. Insignia Partners

now dont talk here no more jimmy, i dont like you, half the people on the site dont like you.

its like a 42watt CFL = 150watts

its not as intense as 5000watts HPS power, that it alot, but the spectrum is more intense then 5000watts of HPS... get it? Spectrum is more power full then watts... plants need spectrum... but using a 600watt HPS with 6x RED during flower the results will be better no doubt. But look at the pics it grows plants, weed is a weed, it grows furiously.

What a lot of shit flying around on this thread! Everybody needs to do less bitching and more reading.
Just on an anecdotal front; I use LED lights on my bike. They're bright as hell - only 3 of em on the front and you can see them from miles, they can be on for hours but generate almost zero heat, and the batteries last a ridiculously long time. I've not needed to change the 2AAs in 3 years. That's a LOT of light for the amount of energy. Plus they're much less cumbersome than say an HPS with its big old ballast box. Even if they're not cheap yet, they've got fantastic potential, and I for one will be keeping an eye out for them.
Cheers for the thread Tilltheday, and awesome avatar!
