The Organic Medicine Cabinet

So it begins...
Couple pics of some supplies as well as the will-be cabinet. Will be 100% organic with all material being bought locally at the various big box stores. Only exceptions being the coco and a huge bag of perlite. Was gonna run two extension cords with socket adaptors and y-splitters on each. 3-6500k/23w + 1-2700k/23w during veg then add 4 more 2700k/23w for flower. Plus at least one fan. Gonna do just one plant, topped and trained. Space is 26"×18" with only about 23" total height. Not sure how hot this will get so was thinking about swapping out some cfls for household leds if it becomes an issue. Just not sure how well they would work. Comments welcome.

I have been using those Jobes spikes for years during veg and they work great ( I also get them from the dollar store Haha) I found that the " tomato and herb ones work the best. I like to break mine in half and plug them about 1-2" deep and about 3" from the base of the plant... never had any problems with nute burn.
I do all of my growing organically, and have had great luck with botanicare products, currently I use Pureblend, Sweet Raw and Liquid Karma in veg, I have some cal mag too but dont use that regularly.

--- most of the house hold leds on the market today are only 3w (each individual led) I did a project not too long ago where I used the phillips led( par 30) spot lights they used 13w total which wont work too well for this application and aren't worth it when you compare them to the cost/ lumen production of cfl's.

i have found with cfl's everyone says 6500k this 2700k that. i will tell you from personal experience that 5000k will work as good or better in smaller grows than 2700k for the fact you will have a hard time cooling 2700k. to be honest i couldn't tell much of a difference between switching half my 5000k out for 2700k during flower. so this round on my blue widow i have run the whole time with 5:1 5000k:2700k with much less cooling problems and much much happier plants. i am running 22 cfl's in a 2x2x4 cab just by staying with this setup i have dropped 5-8 degrees and can run my fans at half speed instead of on high. hope this gets the wheels spinning a bit just cause something works for one it may not the other. trial and error will be your best friend.

keep it organic bob

Not much to update. Quite suprised by the amount of growth in just over a day. Currently only have them under 2-23w/6500k cfl. Will be adding 2700k/6500k alternately over the next couple weeks. Likely 6-8 bulbs total.
