Ok so just put in a temp and humidity gauge. Temp is ok but my humidity is quite low - 20%. Any tips on bringing it up?
  • container of water located by the fan so it can evaporate
  • wrung out wet towel laid out to evaporate
  • dry ice w/a lil dab of H2o
  • foliar spraying plants [very temporary]
  • adding mulch that evapotranspirates [passive]
 
Thanks man! I managed to bring it up to 31% before i took off this morning. Lowered the temp in the room and put a jug of water inside. I also fed them with an organic tea for the first time.

Simple AACT station. Whole setup cost about 18$ with lots of spare tubing and extra airstones. Massive microbial growth after about 20hrs(foamy pic). First feed was today.

Thanks man. Here it is at 16 days. I got a whole collection of old seeds from the early '90s and this was a no name from that collection. Seeing how i don't know the sex, i was thinking of topping at the second node and growing out the four mains left over(first and second nodes). Veg for another week in same container after its topped then transplant into final container and switch to 12/12. Maybe some LST along the way? Not sure, never had to top before.

Looks great! what are you using for soil and what size are you going to transplant into? Looks very sativa dominant.
 
Thanks B. I got a pot that is actually a hanging pot, probably 2gal max. Cut the ropes off, drilling a few more holes in rim and also in bottom for drainage. I like it because its wider than it is deep so it should work well with my limited space. My soil is an all organic custom blend that i mixed, cooked then cut with equal parts fresh worm castings, coco coir and perlite right before transplanting. Was thinking i would post the recipe after the full run. We'll see.

Make a couple CO2 generators....kill two birds....co2/humidity....not much but better than nothing:eyesmoke:...
A gallon jug 3/4 full add 2 packets or 2 spoonfuls of bakers yeast and 1 1/2 cups of sugar.Shake to mix and stand back..lol/jk..

Make sure to keep the lid......dissolve the yeast in a little water first...I heard brewers yeast works better?... 3/4 full because it will foam realeasing C02

Ok so i am going to top at the second node. Under growth is coming in nicely but being blocked from light from the bigger leaves up top. We'll see what happens.

Wow, i think that hurt me more than it did the plant. Ouch! But the deed is done. Another 5 days in this container then on to final pot.

What's your Tea recipe? and have you feed more than twice yet? Just wondering how the outcomes have been. Some family members have been buggin me about trying it out, but I have way too much on my plate already with my ferments.

Lets see...to 1L of R/O water i added 1tsp dry all-purpose(4-4-4), 1tsp unsulphured blackstrap molasses and 1tsp coconut water. Bubbled for about 12 hours then added 4tsp fresh worm castings and bubbled for another 8hrs. Stir, strain and apply. I've only fed once so far as the soil mix i'm using seems to have really good moisture retention. It certainly didn't bother them though. However, i'm thinking i may need a little more nitrogen in there. We'll see.

Nice, I like the simple formula, great that you are trying it out.
 
Seems to have taken well to the topping. Going to leave the runt untopped. Not liking the pale green/yellowish leaves. Needs nitrogen? Thought i had that covered in my soil mix but they do love lots of it i guess.20131203_212202.jpg20131203_211947.jpg

^ Long story short. Plants uptake nitrogen in 2 ways thru Ammonium and nitrates. Ammonium can be directly assimilated by plant roots. Nitrates have to be broken down first into nitrite and ammonium, then they can uptake the Nh4+ [ammonium]. If you are really interested, just read up on the Nitrogen cycle.

They are on their 3rd node. Feed em 1/2 strenth N formula if you want. Shouldn't hurt them. I make my own concentrated liquid nettle and this is what I use in conjuction with liquid kelp concentrate [also fresh made].

Might also just need a little calcium too. Mag and Ca are the first minerals to be washed out of solution due to their solubility.

Looking nice and perky this morning. Thinking about ordering some feminised seeds to eliminate some of the guess work. Maybe autos even. Just hope im not wasting my time on a couple of dudes.

"All plants inhale carbon dioxide through their leaves. This gas is used in photosynthesis. As the plant opens its leaf pores to take in carbon dioxide, some of the moisture in the leaf can escape. Thus the plants sweat water vapor into the air whenever they breath.Dry air causes plants to transpire moisture much more rapidly than does humid air. Waterin the leaves evaporates very quickly into air, causing the plant to lose moisture at a rapid rate. When leaves begin to lose water faster than the roots can absorb it - disaster strikes. It is an evil the plant inflicts on itself, in self defense. In order not to lose more water to the air, the plant will almost completely close its leaf pores. This slows down the flow of moisture from the plant effectively, but unfortunately it also reduces the intake of carbon dioxide. Without supplies of carbon dioxide, the cells begin to die and the plant looks tired and ill.The important point to remember is that dry air pulls water out of the leaves faster than theroots can supply the leaves. Under these conditions, it doesn't matter how much you water such a plant it doesn't help. Over watering only reduces the amount of air in the soil and invites root rot.When plants have the right humidity they thrive, because they open their pores completely and so breath deeply without threat of excessive water loss. When the air is moist, there is little water lost from the leaf."
Found this article, found it informative. Going to try to rig something up and see how they react to the CO2 and if i can get the RH up.
