No, there are two parties in this case. Prisoner Trump and the Government, which represents us. We both have the right to see justice served in a speedy trial.
Yeah, but the government isn't the one with the right to a speedy trial. In this trial, the only one with a right for it to be a speedy one, is Trump. The government is saying the public has a right to Trump's speedy trial. We don't.

Since the purpose of this trial and others like it is to prevent the public from voting for Trump and to disrupt his campaign, Georgia should be honest about why it's so important to have on their schedule instead of Trump's.

Trump does not have the right to set the trial date any more than the public does. But we both have the right to see this trial conducted fairly and to see justice served as quickly as possible while giving Trump a fair chance at defending himself.

The judge has given Trump a fair hearing on his request for a 2028 trial date (or whatever year it was) and found his reasons to be invalid. What do you think he is? Some kind of king who is above the law?

As the saying goes, justice delayed is justice denied.

Actually, it is in the US constitution that both the public and defendant deserve a speedy trial and Trump will get one, just like everybody else, equality under the law is another foundation of justice. All ordinary people would be in jail pending trial over the secret documents upon arrest, which would have happened immediately after the search warrant was executed.

The purpose of this trial and the others is to establish how/if that man committed Federal and State felonies.

The role of the court in this and all trials is to seek and set forth the facts of the matter.

Trump counsel's suggested scheduling was ridiculous, they had opportunity to amend and put forth a reasonable one for consideration and refused. In this scenario every day after the prosecution recommendation should be considered a gift to the defenent. At this point every second he is allowed to stay out on bail should be view as a blessing from the gods
The state dose have a right to see justice served with reasonable expedience and is publicly expected to do so.
Also since this is a rico case it would have been acceptable to force the whole case with all defendants in a speedy trial after 1 demands so.
I don't think delaying is the best strategy for Trump as almost every time he is in public he is creating more evidence against himself.

The point of this trial is to prosecute treason.
A strong message needs to be sent that we will not tolerate any attempt to subvert the will of the voters
If Trump is allowed to see the light of day ever again after these trials, then we will see a successful coup within a decade. American democracy will die.

Imo the purpose of this trial is narrower. It it to prove or fail to prove a criminal conspiracy to subvert the election.

If that trial convicts, the door is open to broader charges of sedition, which is generally considered to be high treason.

The prosecution is moving carefully and deliberately, like a chess master placing his lesser pieces to protect and assist a planned bolder action sequence.
