I assume you want to use these instead of thermal grease but, they are designed
for fast assembly during manufacturing.
Silicon heat sink paste is the only way to ensure a true thermal junction.

I understand that and agree. I'm in the middle of my first build. I am using thermal paste but I'm having problems with the cob's staying in the ideal holders. After many attempts at keeping the cob in the holder grease ends up everywhere. I wish the cob holders would secure the emitter better. So..I'm thinking of thinking of trying thermal pads to get me through this first build. After I get more experience building these things I'll try the grease again. Thank you for your reply.

With all do respect to all who disagree with pads vs paste for any reason they have read about, I say this...

Have used use both?...tested both?...what brands?...what conductivity's?...what thickness?...what differences did you document?...what kind of temp probe?...how much pressure via holders?...what holders?...what chips tested?...what wattage levels?...did you retest after use time?

All good questions.
