Youre a fool, ikileaks has undermined democracy around the globe.
I'm a fool who wants freedom of the press.

WikiLeaks is the 21st century version of a free press, because Goodness knows the Big 6 aren't free- they're bought and paid for by corporate America!

I've got to agree, although I'm a bit more shocked than disappointed, honestly.

Assange is a long-established Putin puppet. Propaganda with a (smug) face. My gut's been telling me that he's had a (clammy) hand in the whole damned mess.
My gut stands by it's 88% success rate.

I'm not aligning myself with him, I'm recognizing the value of the site he created. The site is much more than Assange. FWIW, I have no idea if he's guilty of rape or anything else and it would be reasonable to expect him to submit to a fair trial. It's also reasonable to say that I would not expect him to get a fair trial in an American court.

If the site gets taken down, I hope another much like it with the same mission springs up in its place.

In the beginning, Wikileaks was created by a number of people of which Assange was the most prominent. You should look into what those people have to say about Assange today. Literally none of them are still affiliated with Wikileaks.

I may have a biased opinion. You may feel differently if it was on of your family member's emails and private info including ss# were published.

I am in the unusual position of agreeing with you on the free press issue.

Fair enough. As I said, I'm not here to defend him.

But the idea of WikiLeaks is sound, and I hope that idea survives Assange.

I'm all for legitimate 'classified info'/leak sharing sites, but they should be truth-based and not agenda/propaganda-based. Not interested in sources masquerading as some sort of dignified 'Free Exchange':

.....When they are actually following a very different business model:

Assange is as crooked as a roach leg. He exudes assholery....his words, actions, right down to his body language.
It'll all come to light soon enough.

Assange may or may not be an asshole, but that doesn't mean what Wiki Leaks exposes doesn't need to be exposed.

One of the few things I liked about Obama was he reduced the former Bradley Manning's sentence. Of course Manning should be restituted for the harm he / she suffered, but that will never happen.
