Topping to early?

I would like to create 4+ tops on my Critical #47..
im just dumbfounded on how I would do so.
i am aware of the topping technique, but not sure when or where exactly to top in order to achieve what I desire (4+ tops)
maybe you guys can assist? i believe she is on her 3rd/4th node?

i appreciate any/all positive feedback.

now here some pics:

Let it get one or two nodes higher than top/fim it once. That will start a double growing, Id let those grow for at least a few days then top/fim both of those and your done. I actually prefer a completly different style myself. I like to let the plant grow straight up a good 10-12 nodes and then when Im transplanting it gets laid down sideways, instant SCROG style without actually using a screen/net or cutting tons of tops off

It's worth waiting until the third true node grows in until topping, I ended up topping just above the second true node for four colas, after two months of veg this was the outcome: newest.jpg

I like to wait until the largest leaves reach the pot rim. Until then you are mostly growing roots.
I usually FIM at around 3 weeks in dirt. Because you did not transplant into a smaller medium-
size pot first you will see little growth aboveground until the roots bottom out.

How'd you lie it down? Got any pics?

When the 6th node starts showing, cut right above the 2nd true node (not counting cotyledons).

This will get you 4 tops.

Its super easy and super effective.

a clone is still a plant, youre just looking for the very top site, when you fim or top the center section off, the the little leafy nodes on the side will start to shoot up and a week or 2 those 2 tops can be topped like the first one, this will create a growth height stunt for a week and concentrate on the lower sites, but will also make you get 4 nice tops rapidly shooting up, also many others when you do it early, every strain is different, some dont like to be topped, others take well and get huge, i do it on the 4th or 5th node and heres my ladies at 42 days from seed, northern lights on the left and white widow on the right, if you look you can see all the many tops from topping once and supercropping, 16 per plant, my plants are less than a foot tall but look how bushy, just about to go into flower, also check out ''grow420guide'' on youtube, excellent tutorials and takes you through the fimming and topping techniques perfectly, also supercropping!!!!grow room 001.jpggrow room 003.jpggrow room 004.jpggrow room 005.jpggrow room 006.jpg

Alright, great advice guys!

im going to wait until the 5th 6th node then carry on by cutting right above the 2nd true node. (hopefully resulting in 4 main colas/tops.
how long will growth be stunted for?

also can i top the 4 main colas again?
plan on inserting a scrog in a couple weeks.

Most advise to wait a little bit but you don't really have to. you could pinch the top off and it will grow 4 colas. Once the colas grow out you can top them too. One thing I did recently was to do this and have 4 colas on two branches on the same level of the stem (mainlining), and then once the 2 smaller branches formed I would take them as clones. Usually I just top it the once and tie LST the branches to get a good canopy.

I always see people saying top at node 2 for 4 colas.

I top at the 5th

this is my c99 topped at the 5th

IME many plants, especially indicas, don't do very well if you top them later. The wide leaves shade out too much of the undergrowth, sometimes they don't form good branches and then you'll likely be trimming off tons of those extra branches anyways to even out the canopy and minimize popcorn buds. With c99 you could pull it off for sure she branches so easily, but with other plants it seems to be a waste of time when I can have 4 colas and you haven't even topped your plant yet.

Interesting point man ,noted.I actually only have experience topping sativas or sativa doms.. mainly to control stretch and they all respond like this.. but i was so happy with this run i was thinking of topping my next grow which will be Northern lights.I did wonder if an indica would maybe not respond as well ...not sure what to do

you think is should top indicas at node 2 ?

I literally just lay it down when I transplant, instant scrog, no worrying about bottom/lower growth and I end up with every branch thinking its a top cola i spread the "bottom" side of the roots just a little bit to direct them into the new soil and thats it

August dear god no...not unless your planning on cloning that. If you have 5 you take of the 5th only, the TOP new growth, search FIM.

I got nothing against topping but it should be done in a civilized manner. That way you don't have to ever kill your plant. Only pieces of it/

don't want to "fimm" my lady. (fim gives popcorn buds IMO)
I want to top her..

let me rephrase my question:
If I wanted to use the "topping" technique in order to create 4 main colas before scrog; how would I do so?

Hypothetically speaking let's say Critical#47 is on her 5th node, would cutting right above the 2nd node give me 4 main colas?

Or does someone have any other ideas?
I'm open to suggestions.. Maybe some pictorial results?...

Search it on You Tube. Tons of good vids if you have never done this before and would like to actually see it done.
