Trinidad butch T Scorpion Chili

ok heres an update ,it's roots were starting to grow like mad out of the pot so i transplanted into a bigger pot today.I also topped it the other day .Bit of an experiment ,i seen a few youtube videos advocating it ,so i'm sure it'll be ok..but it hasn't made any new growth since i did it 2 days ago ,but i would say it might take a week or two to recover.

Disclaimer: I have not grown this pepper. But I have grown many varieties, and have noticed that the pepper plant does its own "topping" so to speak. All my peppers are never topped, and at about 5-8 nodes tall they all naturally split into multiple tops. It will bush out on its own, is what I am trying to say. This happened with my jalapeño, habanero, serrano, cayanne, and kung pao hybrids, and straight up red chilis. No topping required and they will shoot out multiple tops on their own, I promise. I don't know where you saw people topping there's, but I have never seen a pepper topped as it will essentially do it on its own. No need to maim it. It is not as durable as cannabis, so keep that I'm mind.

With that all being said, it still looks beautiful. I would show pics of my pepper grows, but alas people do not appreciate veggi porn as much as bud porn and I have deleted last years pepper pics as a result if I remember correctly. If I find some I'll post them for sure.

Edit: sorry the best photo I could find was from early summer. Bit you can clearly see that the plant already split into two tops all on its own. I'm curious to see if it will indeed be bushier than normal, or of you just stunted it's growth unnessisarily.

Again these were all early in the summer, MAYBE early July. See how naturally bushy and already fruit producing they were?




I made lots of hotsauce :twisted: Here is a mixed batch.

hey peyote ,thanks for that info man.. I typed chili topping into the tube and several videos came up.The guys didn't come across as noobs.Ah well ,it's done now ..i guess we'll see what topping does to it..

nice chilis man them things are massive!

That depends on your tolerance for pain...when I want to test a pepper variety for hot sauce, I'll throw a handful into the blender with some fresh lime juice and a pinch of sea salt, let it age for a couple of days in the fridge, then try it out. It won't keep too long, if you don't use it up in a week, toss it.
If it's too hot, you can thin it with shredded carrots, onions, garlic or whatever. If it isn't hot enough, you know what to do...;-)

Right on, hell I may even top a few of mine when it comes time to start up again. I just noticed they do their own bushing.

Its a lot like cannabis extracts. They are all a bit different. In my few years of playing around making sauces is 1 pepper for each 8 ounces or so of finished product. Heat and flavor kinda go hand in hand here IMK.

From memory i think i used 8 orange habaneros, 3 bhuts and 10 hot lemon chillis in my hot sauce last year, i made about 500mL of sauce out of it and had onions and a shit loa of garlic in it, was pretty hot too :D

I always top my chili plants. Much like the reefer, I've noted that all strains I've grown and topped responded favorably to it. I even ran a side by side of the same strain with one topped and one not and there was a noticeable difference. I always top. Usually multiple times. The Trinidads LOVE it.

nice one man.Mine has recovered from the topping now and is starting to grow just like cannabis does after a topping..all the lower nodes are sprouting growth that were not before

Sweet dude, always assumed they'd go on 12/12 as the aren't photoperiod plants, nice to see it confirmed. Thinking of using my little mj breeding cab to grow out a plant of Butch T's...might have to do it!

This is rad to see. I actually grew 2 of these out last year. Fiery as fuck but delicious in some home made hot sauces. I started mine with my bud in my grow box but had to kick them out once my bud plants got bigger.

I bought 10 seeds and I haven't been able to find the 8 leftover ones since I moved which is a damn shame because if I'd known they were lost I would have saved some of the seeds from the ones I grew out.

Good luck with it man. Well worth the effort for these beauties.

Ah man it's cool. If I can't find them by next Wednesday I'm going to order more to coincide with some other stuff I'll be starting at the beginning of March. I'm subbed up as I really enjoy chili grows. Peace.
