Trolling according to Wikipedia:

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory[citation needed], extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.
Or in other words: an online bully.

There could be some personal issues between the two users spilling over into other threads. Or perhaps the person who replied is the real troll.

In either case, yes, not very nice. :)

Or perhaps, the person who replied is just confused. There are a lot of confused people on this forum. Must be something in the air. :bigjoint:

Trolling can be humorous if done properly, not all trolls (verb) are harmful. Some troll posts are downright fucking hilarious. Of course there will always be some people who don't get the joke or are not amused  when people waste bandwith to have a few laughs when there could be serious discussion going on, but I don't really give a fuck about them.

Trolling is basically, getting people to temporarily believe some outrageous shit before they realize how ridiculous they were for believing it. Laughter ensues. That's why, when people ask ridiculous questions, people think they're trolling.

edit: I troll here and there too, I'm not making any denigrating slurs when I call you out for trolling, mr. "my single 11w cfl burned my plants!!!"

I do believe the video post was a joke, another internet thing called Rickrolling:

Rickrolling according to Wikipedia

Rickrolling was an Internet meme[1][2] that involved the music video for the 1987 Rick Astley song "Never Gonna Give You Up". The meme was a bait and switch: a person provided a hyperlink that they claim is relevant to the topic at hand, but the link actually took the user to Astley's video.

Urban dictionary is probably a site that could help you out motoxmom :)

Trolling is the act of purposefully antagonizing other people on the internet, generally on message boards. When done in a moderated internet community, this can result in banning. When done to uptight people such as fundies, this can result in hilarity.
