How is the real opposition the right when we have sitting Democratic senators who don't support universal healthcare?

The real opposition, imo, are these Red politicians wearing Blue suits and the people that support them over more progressive policies
Over one or two issues, they're 'red'?

What about all the other issues? What about global warming, voters rights, etc.?

Campaign finance reform is an umbrella issue, so it doesn't matter what their position on other issues are, if they're bought by special interests, they'll do the bidding of those special interests and blow smoke up Democratic voters asses about why they're not supporting the progressive position, just like they're doing now with universal healthcare. Feinstein said universal healthcare is a "total government takeover of healthcare" - that is a right wing talking point intended to scare voters away from it. Absolutely fucking shameful. Embarrassing.

what's 'embarrassing' is the current regime.

the alternative would have been better. Better for you, better for me, better for the planet, better for the future.

it's not a perfect system. you get 2 choices, pick 1.

I choose to fix the system itself instead of accept it. You should too, because deep down, you know it's wrong

How do you view Democratic politicians who don't support progressive policies like universal healthcare?
As a complete package? Better than the republican who runs against them.

All elected officials have constituents. You don't like Manchin in W.Va. (I don't either) but look at who he represents. We're (slightly) better off with him than a real republican that's a lost cause on every vote.

You want to fix the Democrat party, fine.

I'd like to fix the country in 3 and a half years.

Which is more important?

Let us know when she schools 10%-15% of the right to go along with it.

Because that's the real opposition you often don't take into consideration.

Repeat after me, 'The real opposition is the right.'

The REAL opposition is anyone who doesn't support universal healthcare, IDGAF which side of the aisle they sit on.

Campaign finance reform is the core of what's gone so wrong with our political system. Dealing with that issue will make the rest of the progressive agenda much easier to enact because the will of the People will once again be ascendant, instead of the 'he who spends the most (fully tax deductible!) cash wins' system we have now.

The REAL opposition is in power right now in Washington.

It almost seems like that gets overlooked by posts advocating single payer.

We are not currently in a position to seriously change anything, it's a challenge right now to hold on to what we've got (ACA), not to mention all the other issues that are going 180° in the wrong direction.

i'm gonna laugh my ass off when the pubs shut down government next week because dems refuse to give a single dollar for the wall that trump promised mexico would pay for.

bonus points if they hold people's healthcare ransom.
Then they'll have totally done shit the bed.

Has anyone else noticed that they almost exclusively call it the ACA now and people love it?

True enough.

That said, now is the time to plan for the future. The electorate isn't going to forget.

Let's throw a hypothetical out there:

We have the ACA, we want Universal...

What would be the 5 most powerful changes we could make to the (now popular) ACA to try transition to a universal healthcare system without scaring away all the little Red State fish we finally have nibbling the bait?
