Two months without any human interaction?

Yea, this is probably pretty out there and I'm pretty sure it isn't possible, but, hell, I'll ask because there's always a chance.

I'm going to be out for about a month and a half to two months. Any sort of watering system that will last four plants in a grow box for two months without human interaction?

I mean it dangerous I guess with lights and then if nothing catches on fire or breaks, I wonder if the plants could survive two months without human interaction, any way?

I'd love to leave them outside but there will be hardly any rain while I'm gone. So, basically, unless there's some sort of drip system or...something that'll last them, I'll have to wait until I get back which is, I guess, fine...but it'd be cooler if I could come back to several full veg'd platns.

It's a desperate question, but I'm hopeful for some sort of solution.

ya you can set up a drip system. but then youll have to have a holding tank somewhere. and have the chance of it flooding. two months worth of water for 4 plants. thats alot of water. got any trustworthy friends that could help out.?

You could daisy chain a few reservoirs together like this one. I'm sure you could do it, but the tricky pary is calculating how much water you need to keep avail. It would suck to come back and find out it all died two days prior to getting back after a month.

I have a couple friends that I could probably trust, but I just don't want to. This is my own thing and I don't want to involve anyone else just in case word spreads or they get in trouble with me, you know? How much water would two months be...

My box is almost identical to the one you pictured. What do you mean by daisy chain and the reservoir? Actually, now that I think about it, I'm not sure how to set up a drip system either.

With the amount of water needed, it would be okay to overestimate, though, wouldn't it? I had thought this pretty impossible but the first two responses cause me to be slightly optimistic now.

Deep Water Culture perhaps?
I had considered trying DWC when I first started growing, but went ahead and went with soil to get my feet wet. I was hoping to stick with soil for this grow, though. On DWC don't you have to check the nutrient levels pretty often, too? And the size reservoir I'd have to find, yet again... Maybe it would work, but I'd like to stay soil if I can.

Totally possible! Believe it or not, most plants grow without humans.

Make sure your lights are completely legit tho my friend. No pot is one thing, no house is another. G'Luck!

Ho, ho, yes coming home to a pile of ashes where my house used to be would be terrible. Well, they lights are CFL and they've been working really well for the last couple grows. I had heat problems at first but I got a air intake and a little cold fan thing outside it and that fixed it up. Is there any reason that they'd spontaneously erupt in flames, though?

Can anyone elaborate or point me to a link on how I would actually set up a drip system or the "daisy chain" thing Puff mentioned?

Might want to add a couple of extra fans just in case one of yours goes out while your gone so nothing roasts (like your house).

Or not.

Eh, good tip. I'll cut out and put in a second fan on the other side just in case. Hm, maybe this will actually work.

Oh, here's something I thought of. The plants will, obviously, grow up during my absence and I won't be able to move the lights up and down.

If I keep the lights at the top of the box (big plastic containers lined with mylar and stacked on top of eachother ~ 5 feet tall) will they stretch so much that I'll come back to thin plants that are burning on the lights? Or will 6 weeks not be enough for them to grow so tall? I'm growing an orange strain its a sativa/indica mix but I've never grown it before.

If putting them outside is an option, i'd do that man. I think, unattended, you might get much better results.

whatever you need from this page:
Drip - Watering - Garden Center - Outdoors at The Home Depot

and whatever you need from this:

Timers - Watering - Garden Center - Outdoors at The Home Depot

drip-hose and timer... put your ladies outside, and hope for good weather?

on a totally different note, i've thought about automating a grow room completely. like, plant seeds or clones, hit go and come back to harvest... you need a shit load of water, nutes, applicators, reservoirs, digital logic/programming, sensors and money, but it's doable...

dude, indoors this is just not possible. 2 months unattented.....no way! Especially not with CFLs. 5ft away! Come on man. Stop dreaming. They need to be inches from the plant tops and moved up daily. I could go on, but I hope you get my point already.

I'm going to have to agree here.

How old are these plants as at 2 months they will be ready for flower maybe sooner if they are already growing? A simple woodpecker drip setup using 1/4 hose, a 4 way air line regulator to have 4 hoses from 1 or a drip manifold.1 dripper in each pot on a stake.A timer which would turn the drippers on for a few minutes a couple times a day and then youd need like a 55 gallon drum for a res or simliar size if not bigger. What size pots, what size lights?

ok cfls never mind you cant do this without getting real Maguyver on this one. A timer and small lectric moto some rope. You could have the timer turn the motor on once a week to raise the lights on a wench setup maybe 2 inches a week to compensate but your gonna have to be pretty tool and diy handy to set it all up and working in conjunction with everything else
