uk cannabis laws, have your say.... please

ok so the two party goverment in the uk say they are listening to the people.

after all the cannabis laws in the uk criminalise around 20-25% of the population. this is crazy, if every cannabis user in the uk(approximately 15 million) were to get caught with cannabis the system would crumble therefore it is not just an unessasary law but also an un-enforcable law.
goverment research backs up what we allready know, cannabis is a relatively safe drug.
prohibition dosen't work!!! depending on the time of day i can score weed easyer than cigarettes.
the only thing prohibition does is drive up prices leading to contaminated product and
organised crime .........

lol what amerians are doing is even more retarded state laws sayin its fine and letting them set up an industry but then federal organisations saying its not legal and running round raiding stealing and destroying the businesses people set up under state laws. I think theres a couple of documentary's about that shit on ninjavideo kinda interesting to watch if you got an hour or so to kill.

it depends on where you are, if your in say...............manchester which is a shithole, weed should be legal because they have a big crime problem, same for certain parts of london, i doubt the rich conservative white guy with a 6mil house in essex would want weed legal, unfortunatly tho our country is ruled by the rich so it will never happen, i still dont see why i cant light up because some rich white kid smoked too much and went mad, altho round my bits if they catch u with weed theyl prob just take it and let u go. for me, im unsure about legalisation, altho it would defo affect me, i think it would just mean that only connosuers will be smokin our weed instead of these fuckin hoodrats, the way i see it is:

full criminalisation = criminal gangs with all interest in profit
decriminalisation= people like us who love weed and grow it not just for profit, but to also provide people with good weed at a good price
legalisation= big corporations with all interest in profit

the only prob is that honest growers (ive met and worked with a few) are always attacked for no reason, under full crim were screwd, under decrim were o.k but not completly safe, under legalisation we just cant compete, imagine q's of "fluff" (generic gang weed) but for a fraction of the price, imagine the tax we'd have to pay, imagine the electricity bills, imagine the buerecracy, decrim is defo the best if we want the best weed at good prices.

we like them are a divided nation, we have those damn conservatives who shout "the new dangerous skunk will make you go nutty", whilst on the other hand u have the lib dems sayin "we want coffeshops, weed shops, we want it in off licenses" and we have labour who just has no clue, america has silly texan rednecks who shout "marijuana is the devils drug and u will be addicted and go crazy" and then u have the more sensible places like cali where they say "weed is good and if anything its soo good that we dont need medicine in hospitals no no no no, well just have people smoke weed and theyl all get better overnight".

the prob over here is people think theres this super strain that will drive u nutty when its the same weed...... just a bit stronger.

there was a UK documentary that focused on the "appearance" of skunk in london, upto 60% THC, a bag of literally 5 seeds worth was quoted as being a ten bag.

then there are these mothers who's kid have hung themselves in the bedroom after having full on psychotic moments, voices and everything, and they firmly state without a shred of proof that it WAS the skunk that did it. i feel no sympathy towards them. the amount of active misinformation passed out infuriates me. skunk is no different to going to the shop and buying anya potatoes or muscat grapes. it's just a type, and ironically skunk(s) such as exodus cheese, have been bred from the same mother from 25 years previous, hardly a new strain on the market, and hardly like it has magically evolved into a killer potency bud. it's the same as it ever was. the only difference is you don't have to put as much in your joint..

exactly, i remember back in the day when it was all jamaican and thai u had to do a puree just to feel anythin, even tho my tolerance is fukin huge i still have trouble handlin a puree of fresh bud. and these mothers who blame weed for there son goin mad with no proof, what there sayin is that coz HER son went mad another womans son has to go to prison or get a criminal record even if weed has no negative effects on the user, yeah ive seen people be fucked up by weed, but from what ive seen thats just the person, i have some customers who pikup a ounce every 3 -4 weeks and are fine and i have very heavy customers smokin 15 - 20 grams a day who are probably scitzo.

Long term use of cannabis can lead to mental problems, it's been proven time and time again.

There's people who are born with these problems and grow up their entire lives without mental problems showing and as soon as they smoke a bit of weed it "unlocks" that part of their brain.

i would have to change that to long term HEAVY use can lead to problems. the bloke who has the occasional spliff i doubt will go scitzophrenic.

and the research has shown that there is no proof it creates mental illnesses but as you say, it unlocks an already present condition (as in a locked up condition)

or has there been new studies that prove without doubt that cannabis creates mental illnesses? i'd be interested to read them if there are.

its all about abuse, if u smoke to escape a shitty life and u have a predisposition towards a mental disorder, using a mind altering substance may not be the best of ideas, the potential for abuse of cannabis is far smaller than say alcohol or heroin, more people are now obese than ever before, the fats in modern fast food cause quick hits of dopamine, in other words, cheeseburgers are being abused, why arent drug warriors closing down burger king then?

do any of u guys know what the new gov's policy on cannabis will be? coz i heard liberals want decrim and conservatives are well.........conservatives.

Skunk is media hype, in my opinion the media plays a bigger hand in creating legislation in the country than the politicians. Cannabis was upgraded to a class B almost solely on the back of a campaign lead by the Daily Mail. A nutjob middle class suburban parent wrote a diary detailing how cannabis particulary new stronger "skunk" strains her son was smokin was doin his head in, cause he was gettin into bit of trouble. The kid said himself on TV he was a teenager full a hormones and that gettin into some mischeif was just part of growin up and his mum couldnt take her child developin into a man. But anyway this was all hyped up outta proportion and ya know what a Daily Mail readers like with a bandwagon! After this poor old cannabis suffers and gets upgraded!

Government needs to decriminalise, take leaf outta hollands book and get coffee shop industry goin, bring in some lost black market revenue and start gettin stuck into this fuckin deficite!
