if i use the leaves i clipped off my vegetative plants in my hash oil, will it affect taste? Could it increase the thc content at all? Or should i use only bud trimmings? What about stems? im using 151 proof everclear and a 45 micron hash bag for a filter.ive made ice hash before but never oil.can anyone give me any tips as this is my first time making oil. im going to boil water and put a pan over the water to boil it off. Ive got the everclear and all my green meterial in the freezer for tommorrow when i attempt this.

Isn't Everclear usually 190 proof?



I use everything, this is actually my preferred way to do it. I winterize both the ethanol and the whatever I use [leaves, trimmings, stems] for at least 4 hours, overnight is better.

I have progressively been going to this recipe I guess you could say:

Pour in ethanol and cap

Shake for about 1 minute.

Let rest up to 5 minutes, then drain.

Put water in a steel pan [I use a counter-top "hot pot'] and then a glass pan. I stack jar lids inside to keep the bottom of the glass pan off the bottom of the hot pot. The glass pan is still below the level of 200-250F water.

I set the hot pot to about 200 degrees and also use a large fan. I watch it until evaporates. Then take it out and scrape, it is usually black oil but after being scraped and put in the fridge it usually takes on hash like consistency....best way to make dank oil from scraps, essentially RSO...:peace:

I just made a 2 gram batch from fresh harvested stems and a batch that already was ran once..[2nd batches give you more blond looking hash or oil]
Only used about 4-6 oz of ethanol too....wasn't that much really.

Heres my tip.... i would read all the qwet and/or qwiso threads on this forum then reread your question and your method and you will see whats wrong.

where do you get the ethanol? I cant find any iso alcohol besides 91% in any store thats why im using everclear, and my state doesnt allow 190 proof so i got the next best thing .

I recommend investing in a hot plate, for pancakes and such. You can set them pretty low and they're cheap enough anymore; especially if you're working with flammables, I swear honey oil refineries are gonna be the next exploding meth labs if people don't remember they're basic physics haha, alcohol fumes like crazy when it heats up, and I second the 91iso and coffee if you're not using butane and a vacuum

im getting mixed reviews, some people say that grain alcohol is safer than iso, and there is a youtube video that the lady uses everclear and boils it in a pan over water.

so go back and see what proof that everclear is in the youtube video
and its just you have 25% water in the 151 that grabs unwanted bull shit and makes it hard to purge that water out, also that mesh screen is going to let enough particles in that it wont be full melt

hell there is a brand of wax up in CO called MoonRock that company is a joke, left more residue on my nail then the keif i pressed out of my wicca box and dropped on there.

yeah i read a thread on grasscity about how the water collects unwanted stuff. The lady was using the 190 proof everclear but i cant get that easily.

so despite the danger, and advice against this i went ahead and tried it anyway.just like on youtube lol I used 151 everclear and boiled it in a pan above boiling waterIMG_20140219_094956.jpg
i didnt bring it to a full boil i just heated it til it was steaming then turned it off until it cooled and repeated that til it was all evaporated. It took about an hour. then i scraped the pan with a rice spoon. I didnt have a coffee filter so i ran the mix through my hashbag first and then took apart a tea bag and used that to filter it again. I got a decent size nug out of it and it smokes great. I put in the freezer so it acts like shatter until it warms up then its thick and sticky.i do notice the difference in taste compared to iso and bho but its only a slight difference. It packs a punch too this little nug will last me about a week and a half in my vape pen.

yeah i had a fan blowing across the top of it to keep the fumes down, but if i ever use iso i will definitly take it outside on a hotplate.

For future reference that nug of black poop isn't exactly a successful run..if this was the growing section you would be asking about deficiencies etc.....
I'm sure we can help you get some gold shatter out of that or better yet straight crystalline hash

well first i froze the trim and the everclear then i put the trim in a mason jar and poured the alcohol over it. I shook it up and swirled it around for about a minute. Then poured it into the hash bag in a mixing bowl poured the mix into another jar with the tea filter, and its hard for me to get out and i forgot the coffee filters yesterday so i had to improvise. I have a razor blade but i didnt want to scrape off the teflon along with oil so next time ill use glass and coffee filters.i called it a success cuz now i have something to smoke while im out of cash and stuck at home with no bud. I had to make due with what i had but ill be changing the process a little and next time it will be better
