Weak Stems

I know it is a common problem when growing inside.

This is my first grow ever, and I'm really looking to avoid having to tie the plants up.

Does anyone know a good way to get fat stems when inside? Thanks!

Sure, not a real problem if you know why the plant is growing in a such a way.

Weak stems are usually caused by the lack of silicon for the plant to pick up and use to build its main structure.(its much more complicated then that, but thats the important part)

to fix this, buy Potassium Silicate I use stuff from CannaMax Labs. All you need is 1/4 ML per gallon every feeding or when needed. The stuff is cheap too, about $10 gets you a bottle that seems to last forever

Thanks man, I'm gonna run out and get some later on tonight!

I had heard it was because (something like) "When the plant is outside, the cells get 'ripped' much like in a way the human body builds muscle; the wind outside strengthens the stem, so a fan should be blowing on the plant"

Boy, was I wrong

i wouldnt say u was wrong, plants have wind on them outdoors all the time.
I have a fan on my plants 24/7. like the breeze outdoors

I use a fan most of the time not directly blowing on them more so moving the air in the room and they also move with the air. My stems are thick.

Air movement is necessary too, you weren't wrong at all
not only to stimulate stronger stem growth, but to keep Co2 moving along the bottom of the leaves to allow the plants to breathe fully.

Yes you can force the plant to grow thick stems by heavy air movement but if it doesn't have the necessary micronutrients it will slow down growth, in order to produce the nutrient itself.
Are we having fun yet? I can get more complicated

I like details...my question is can there be too much air circulation so that the plants are suffocated that way? I have a large fan blowing on several of my plants because my dumb noobie ass was not prepared for the heat that a 400 watt hps produces. My temps have gotten as high as 85 but I have been pretty good at keeping them at about 79-80. Plants look great compared to the first time around (L.E.D. disaster), but now I have to keep that fan on them pretty hard. Will this be detrimental (so far so good)? I am getting an air cooled hood in a week or so and venting out to the ducting in the attic to redistribute throughout the house, keep the attic from raining, and to keep the fuzz from infer redding me. Damn...
