Weed Wars

Anthony is a horrible spokesperson for medical marijuana. The language he uses is straight street terms and recreational oriented. Besides smoking joints at the ball field, he talks about his team being hopped up on edibles and will be too stoned to play by the third inning. He smells something while driving and says someone must have hit a skunk or someone has good weed around. In the store he calls it weed all the time. He sounds like a normal stoner and that would be fine if he wasn't a face in the medical marijuana movement. There is a fine line that needs to be walked in order for people to accept marijuana as a medicine and he is not walking it!
Could you imagine a pharmacist using the language of pharmaceutical junkies while behind the counter. It would not look good at all!

Just to play devils advocate...

Do you not think that the manner in which the thing is filmed, is in actuality rather accurate to the true nature of medical marijuana, in that at times yes it is a scam, and that it's not so much a bad image, but a more demographic image being portrayed? :fire:

you lost me there tiptop. idk what you mean?
i think if they want to be taken seriously they need to quit smoking at work and glorifying it as recreational. if you own a bar and have a softball team and have a keg there at the game, all fine and well because it's legal and for a recreational purpose. MMJ is not about clowning around IMHO. he looks like a clown and i wouldn't take him seriously nor do i want him representing me.

That was the point i was trying to put across, in that the general view from what i read and hear and watch, is that MMJ is a clown in itself, people are aware of how abused the system is. While it would be preferable to see something truly positive on tv about cannabis, i can't deny that well, a cannabis lifestyle can and does include that kind of shit here and there.

cannabis lifestyle does not have to be a clowning lifestyle. however more people will watch a clown, especially on tv. i don't think the good folks at Discovery really care one way or the other about MMJ legislation. they are into this for the money, clown mcsmokey there on WEED WARS draws viewers and he promotes the wrong image. which derails the fight. i hate that show.

I think you both make valid points but lets face it Mary is used for both clowning around, i.e. recreation and medicinal. Thats what makes it so special! But my mother always told me there was a time and place for everything and to be honest they need to understand that the camera's are rolling and that everyone watching doesnt understand thet....YET!! In time we will bring them along but if we lose them from the start we will never get a chance to educate them of the many aspects of this plant. If they portray the very stereotypes they've all been told and bought into, nothing will change!!

Have any of the organizations that promote MMJ with smart people running it made any comments about this show?

It would be cool if he did one where he confesses why he has two braids so I can stop thinking about it, I meen if he was just like "man I'm the biggest willie nelson fan, I even grew these braids I like him so much" I would be like, oh, ok...

Now picture the show with everyone being professional and wearing lab coats. Talking intelligently, not stoned, helping the patients decide and managing their business properly....I have a business and if I ran it like that I would deserve to lose it..Sorry lil bro but we don't open the safe and giggle to millions about how many seeds we got...It's just fucking soo wrong..pisses me off. gonna set us way back..FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

It's seems like it portrays the dispensary owners I've met. They all are waaay too stoned all the time because there constantly smoking the next dankest shut to come in not too mention concentrates

Are there any owners that aren't like that? I guess if you are operating that type of business, taking a chance on losing everything with one swipe of the pen or one knock at the door, you have to be wacked!!! (Just thinking out loud)

The first time I even tried cannabis was 6 months ago, so I don't know much about how things really work. How accurate is this show, and are most dispensaries like how Haborside is presented in the show? I've been to a few dispensaries, and every one of them lied and tried to bullshit me, and when they got called out on it it was horrible to see them wiggle out of it. I have worked in IT and the bullshitting style and circumstance was so similar that it disgusted me. Trying to sell me shitty cindy 99 and pass it off as top shelf to the people right in front of me? Fuck these people. Makes so angry.

When they were telling those employees to stand behind the product I realized that they don't give a crap. If they did instead of getting high and playing softball they would stop buying shit and tell the customers the truth. It is harborside's job to get people to sell them good weed. You think any grower that is producing top shelf indoor wants to sell to a club on consignment for crappy prices? Their business practices seems to foster an environment that attracts the bad weed and makes people with good stuff want to sell it through other channels.
