Weird Leaf Growth

is the ph liquid test kit new? not sure if they go bad but that is something to look into. i think these can give inaccurate readings as you are dealing with ph by eyeball. try adjusting ph where you normally do it, then check it out in the sun. see if a different lighting gives you different results. if you are going to play the ph game i strongly suggest getting a digital meter, costs around 10 bux on ebay. you can probably find free shipping.

i think the burning may have come from the light being too close. seedlings really dont need much light, i typically start mine with cfls and give a slow transition to mh. it could be too much light or too much heat. looks like you have all the required matl for a good grow...first time?

I may pick up another test kit just to see, there cheap. I certainly don't want to keep messing with pH, just hoping pH'ing my water is going to be enough to keep things on track. I've played the pH game with my reef tank and it's a serious pita, and probably does more harm than good. Near the end of my first grow, my pH was out of wack, above 7. Twisty leaves, etc. It was cheap soil (hyponex soil). I went with Happy Frog and Ocean Forest for this grow because everyone says it's the best and hopefully I won't run into problems with pH this time around.

Yes i have a reef tank as well never played the ph game with it. 8.3 all year. Are you going organic or synthetic nutrients?

never heard of that....can you tell me a little more?

It's a granular fert, similar to MG fert, although it's claimed to work a little better. Riddleme uses it effectively, and alot of the guys who follow him, do the same. If I remember correctly, the NPK values are 20-20-20, and I believe it also contains trace nutes.
