It is interesting how different parts of the country are like different worlds completely. I'm not going to sit here and tell you all about the laws but here is the official website for all things MMJ in the state of CO. This should answer many of your questions but remember each state has their own laws which are very different from other states.

Back to the topic..

The MMC I work for is selling lbs of top shelf for $2600. It's the beginning of summer and prices will go up toward the end of the summer. Due to lack of quality growers at MMCs, quality is way down in 90% of the MMCs still in business. There are half the amount of MMCs in Colo Springs, from last year!!

The head of the Colorado Cannabis Council owns an MMC through her mother and uses the council unfairly for the gain of her business while undermining other MMCs and in my case, she scammed my partner and because she new the rules, put him in a position that ultimately lead to the demise of our MMC

The state unfairly changes laws because small groups of radical Christian moms with nothing better to do, refuse to accept the majority rule of people in the state and in Springs, that medical marijuana is legal. Two years ago the MMEDs rule for distance from a school was 500 feet. A few months back it changed out of no where, to 1000 feet, causing 25 or 30 stores to shut down and caused 20 or 30 of our neighbors to lose everything...their homes and lives taken away by a handful of of radical terrorist Christian moms that are so demeaning to the Christian faith and to the sense of community we all wish to share. We need to form a coalition to protect the rights of MMJ patients, caregivers, and MMCs.

The problem with that is most of the owners of MMCs, overall, are not good people, in my opinion. They know nothing about pot and think they are about to strike it rich selling bud to little stupid potheads.....not the case. The average patient is 35 - 40 years of age. And you cant pick the weed at 6 weeks just because it's big and has crystal and white hairs and you want to make money, but your grower is telling you it needs 4 more weeks so you fire him because its not what you want to hear, and the cycle continues.... I have sat down with all the owners in the state at a few seminars and had a chance to chat with them. I have tried to do business with them. I understand the patients frustration when they would rather go back to the black market dealer because the weed is always better than the MMC down the road.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPS!!!! I went off a little...IMG_0714.jpg

Yea I agree, when I first moved out here, I was in awe that I could go into a store a buy weed like a gentleman. But after a couple months the appeal wore off...I mean yea that bud is cheap about 180/o but I literally watched the quality of this shop plummet in front of my eyes, I was going to stop going to the mmcs all together but then I was informed that my local shop changed growers to he breeder of red headed stranger and the quality is top notch again...I mean it's really sad when you know more about the buds they're selling than the budtenders

Thank you Med. I tried to be objective about that, but it's just my experience with people in the industry that I have worked in for the last 3 years as an owner and now an employee. It's much better getting a paycheck than writing the check. AMEN!!! Plus I'm more cynical in my old age....but I feel like my judgement is sound when it comes to people. It was worse in the beginning when there still was a lot of riff-raff in the game. Now it's more corporate up in Denver and Springs, but still, it's like any other nickle and dime business.......a very small % is actually taken home by the owners. Taxes are insane, feds whacking us for 40% of gross income, not net income. It happens in no other business. It proves that our government acts like the mob and skims money when they feel like its justified.

This is an interesting thread. As an outsider to the MMJ industry, I am blown away by the problems in this emerging industry.
