What are the best LEDs money can buy, and the best value?

I'm assuming you mean best led's for growing plants but this will still vary widely depending on whether it's a cob or just diodes on a board/strip. Even if you mean just cobs, it varies widely based on the current you plan to drive them at. It's just not enough information to give a real answer.

If you mean this question just in a general sense then the Citizen and Luminus cobs are likely your best bet but Vero and Cree are both competitive also. Cree doesn't win many 'best value' awards because it's typically the most expensive option but they are all very close to one another in efficiency and value.

Strips and Boards like the Samsung F series, Bridgelux EB series and QB/Sun boards are probably your best value though since this type of lighting requires less budget going towards heatsinks and significantly reduce the weight of your light fixture.

Two questions
If you dont mind DIY all the way I suggest looking into f series/eb strips or cobs.

Partial but still mostly DIY is cobs in Kits or quantumboard Kits.

If you dont like diy you can still buy prebuilt Kits from growerslights.com at an added 35$. Or you could buy complete fixtures for a decent buck! HLG got a big 20%croptober discount on their complete fixtures( this does not include the diy kits ).

Gl with your led quest mate :-)

What do you consider a good value?

Lol if you yonder on to the ghetto side of riu you may see this.

Now keep in mind this can cost you under 20 bucks if done right.

14 800 lumen 10w bulbs with the plastic junk ripped off.

30k lumens at 12 inches canopy

@140 watts total its making over 200 lumens per watt. Built it in an afternoon cost me nearly nothing and i cut my hydro bill. Also never had an area this bright before. I actually bleached a seedling.20171021_185237.jpg

In your other thread you gave the specs:
"I purchased 14 10w 800 lumen bulbs"

So that means they are 80 lumens per watt (maybe 10-15% more with diffusers removed. So that would be 11200 lumens (plus 15-20%)

Not trying to bum you out, that still makes them as efficient as cmh, and they'll grow the dank

(edit) fuck i read the OP post wrong)

I'd say

Best led on the market I'd still say is chilled LED (the new 500w preorder kits a good value too really)

Best value is going to be a diy cob light with cxm-22 leds or the citizen 1212

Agree with what cobkits said.

You could easily get 200 lumens per watt with some Vero 29s.

However I think Citizen 1212s are good enough at around 160 Lumen per watt.

Last time I checked Gavitas HPS gave out around 135 Lumens per watt and throw out a ton of infrared heat in the grow room(something cobs do not)

Its really not worth spending thousands on LED kits when its the actual COB thats where the innovation is, and the COB you can buy yourself for <$30 and add to a driver...

Had to like @freemanjack and @grilledcheese101 posts for going the alternate route into different Cobs/lights than the normal.
