i wonder if u want to grow scrog, or just want your plants short and start your flowering at about 8-9 inch - what is the best pot size for growing organics in soil?

the bigger the root, the bigger the fruit
I wouldn't flower with anything smaller than 3 gallon
I agree. I was amazed at how much bigger my buds got when i started growing in bigger containers. Im going to go even bigger next time.

This raises another question for me; Can you go too big?

Yeah sure, just be careful not to over water if you have a small plant in a big pot.

rule of thumb is 1 gal for every month your plant is alive i.e. 3 months = 3 gal. pot
No the rule of thumb is 1 gallon for every foot. Not everyone uses cfl's

You should go for 5 gallon buckets though honestly if your only doing a couple plants, bigger pot = bigger plant = bigger yield. your plants are in flower for 8-13 weeks and that's along time for the roots to still grow, constricting them to a small pot makes growth slow allot.

What about the SOG method? Clones put directly in flower can grow a meeter tall and still bud great in 6inch pots.
That's true but your also pulling your plants prematurely usually around 6 weeks aren't you?, yeah indicas and ruderalis crosses can be done I know. with no veg you cant grow much roots, makes sense to me.

i am growing skunk from 60% sativa 40% indica, and using sog method. i have hight limit and i move the plants to flower when they are 9 inch.. so i think 3 gal. pots are more than enough

i found that a tall skinny pot will give you a taller skinnyer plant
a short wide pot gives you a shorter wider plant

i just started using air pots for this grow and there booming when i was gettin opinions for them one guy sed to me when u pull your plant out of the pot after harvest its roots are like a bog brush [one of those brushes u use to clean shit from the inside of your toilet] lateral rooting all over, i think we gotta leave normal pots for people growing plants in back gardens these air pots rly work wonders so u can u use far smaller pots and still get top results my stems are fat, bushy as fuk and gettin tall [ maybe too tall for my tent in time] i mixed perlite with my coco soil for extra air-iation and think it would actualy be hard to drown these bitches with so much air in the soil there drinking alot more and are glowing. im using 6 litre pots id say its on a parity to a normal 20 litre pot with so much root surface area. theres a guy some where on here that makes his own air pots but at less then 2pounds a pot for the propper thing...fukit
