what is the most efficient DIY LED build today?

It seems like the best commercial lights you can get nowdays perform the same as the DIY stuff we built @ 2015-2016
Cree CXB 3590 at 700ma was producing 64% efficiency or 2.95 umol/j
with cooler Kelvin temps (good for veg) and high bin you could get even higher efficiency

What's people fascination with max efficiency? I'd rather focus on better spectrum personally.

Also i'm pretty sure those max umoles/J ratings are done with the LEDS underdriven as they become more efficient then. So not all that useful. Unless your running hundreds of these lights a little more or less efficiency shouldn't matter.

because some people are limited by electricity
not limited by space or by demand for highest quality stuff

so difference between 2.9 umole/J and 3.1 is enough to allow you to run enough lights on your wiring?

Hanging them high and having few lights makes sense if you have a warehouse type of setup I guess. Also if you're using Co2 and really locked in. I was trying to make the point that we've surpassed HPS levels and now they're just stuffing more bulbs on the build that most people are going to have to turn down.
Outside has co2 but filling tanks local isn’t a option, I fucked with it for a grow, can’t say I noticed much at the time, was the first led run too. I went back to 1k de outside last time and right now.

unless of course there will be a clear side by side that shows that a little tweek in the spectrum will increase yield
wich already been done on a small scale by greengeens on his YT channel when he grew with 3500 kelvin and 5000kelvin lights and we bearly seen a difference which is why I mixed 5k with 3.5k in my build to up the efficiency

Speaking of spectrums. I just heard Samsung is making a new diode for HLG.

What about the Chilled Growcraft Ultra. "3.19 µmol/J at 622.4 Watts"

Black Friday sale is 50 bucks off, so it's only $2,519.99!

that's nice but we are looking for a DIY solution that can make those numbers higher
within a reasonable price range of course
but even x2 or x3 the market price is acceptable if the increase in efficiency is at least ~20%

think of it this way, even if you are limited by space you still benefit from the increase of efficiency
because now you can either add more light and produce more
or keep the same amount of light but add extra fans or a dehumidifier or whatever else might be missing to make your room perfect.

20% of the stated max efficacy of 3.1 is still around 2.5? which modern underrun LED comes out at that umol/J on the market?

thats assuming better spectrum doesnt have its own effects like better terpene resin production quicker flower initiation and finishing

going after max vegetative growth ie buds through bluier more efficient spectrums and more light doesnt equal better buds imo

yes, and higher yield, although much quicker finishing can be even better if the time cut is significant
