What kinda budget do you need to have a private grow?

Lol!! That'd scare anyone looking to jump up to big boy levels. Haha. Put it this way, my initial budget and plan... $350-550 to do a micro grow box, that grew to 2 boxes, to a closet and 2 boxes... $2700 And climbing. Lol granted I did some things that cost me dummy money (experience money if you will) and this was all since january. Lol so yeah, take your budget with a big grain of salt. Growings too much fun. Just don't skimp on safety. Use ground fault protecting circuit breaker power bars, I also recommend heavy duty outdoor timers (electrocution is not my friend) and remember "more safety... Less fire."

Dont buy crazy expensive stuff, dont buy cheap stuff same as anything else. Either way you are going to be spending money. Buy stuff that you will still use even if you upgrade, or down the road decide to expand. Get a couple T-5's, that way in a few weeks if you come across some more money or decide to upgrade and get an HPS for flowering, you can now have two seperate light sets and can veg and flower at the same time. Next grow get an MH and your t-5s are still useful for seedlings and clones. JMO

I have about a grand in my 2x2 foot closet grow. That said, if you went with some 26 watt cfl's, cheap soil and nutes, and did not need odor control, you could get in for under $100.

Yup, gotta start somewhere.
What inspired me was a journal here on a super closet. The guy said it cost about 2k but I thought I could do it for less.
I did, for about $300 I made one out of storage cabinet and got a couple oz's Then built another one, then a room with a waterfarm, then a greenhouse. Its been a few years and I'd say I've invested a couple thousand dollars on grow equipment and I still want stuff. LOL

How long is a piece of string. You can spend a few dollars you can spend a few thousand dollars. You only have to spend as uch as you want to spent. There is no requirement for expensive nutrients and such, it can be done for a pittence, to hell with anyone saying $1500 would be skimping on a lot, that's utterly and totally silly imo :)

I agree, don't waste money on expensive high P cannabis specific nutes, I wasted$150 on that crap and my ladies got deficient before I wised up and got some dynagro for less than $20.

Hey mate, if you want some reading check out the budgeting section in my grow journal, in my sig. Like I'm sure you're aware it can be as much or little as you want, mine will run about $1100-1200 for a 1000w vert scrog setup for 8 plants. I would say BUDGET it and get everything you need to make it big, but in stages to get there. I first got T-5s and starteg germing, that gave me a month to get more money and I got soil and my first HPS, then I'll get another one and it will come together. You can have a $5000 system, as long as you take the steps and have the funds to do it, spread it out over a few years and have an amazing grow set-up. I would say go with budgeted quality rather than instant quantity.

square footage would be easier to estimate than plant number..

but the first estimate was what comes to my mind as well... a stack an a half.

While there's an initial outlay of some bucks, if one spends wisely on the fundamental needs, one can add accessories on along....since growing is a whole lot more adddictive than smoking...it's a worthwhile invesstment! and you get to burn the results!

i guess he was talking about indoor grows.. but he never really said indoor.. so ill do outdoor since no one else mentioned it....

this is my 1st grow by the way

-seeds.. 5 fem. for $40...
-Buckets... free
-soil... your pick.. me fox farms frog mix $15 for a decent size bag.. prob will need 6 bags for 5 plants....
-sunlight... free
-water.... idk how much do they charge you for wateR? or you could use rain water....

so thats exactly 130.. figure shipping is $12.. so thats $142... Gas to go get potting soil... a leg and a arm!!!

To grow your own doesn't cost very much at all. For the price of an oz. in some places you could start up your first plants but really I would say $1000 should cover most of the startup expenses for a small garden if you are thrifty.
Light (300$ or less)
Tent (200$ or less)
Fans (200$ or less)
Pots and growing medium (50$ or less)
fertilizers (150$ or less)
genetics (100$ or less)

I think with just those things you could easily produce enough buds for yourself. You can save a lot of money on a lot of that stuff or even DIY for close to nothing. Other than electricity and water you should have everything essential to grow indoors.

Some other things you probably want to have:
Odor control
extra bulbs and cfls
PH/PPM tester
pumps for hydroponic setups
More genetics ;)

It all depends on the grow space that u have... Ok lets say 3 to 6 plants.... U will need to start with a medium... And decide if u gon use coco or a hydropinic system,... I use coco/perlite...then u need buckets,... Seeds or clones?... Lets say u use coco and vegge for 3 weeks then flower... This can be done in a small area... A closet will be ideal... No need for tent if ur pockets cant handle it... A t5 does great for vegging... U can also rig up ur own lights and spend top 60 dollars on a light that works the same as a t5 a t5 will cost 135 including bulbs...then u will need a hps light for flowering or a mh... They say led lights work good but ill recommend hps... Then u will need a intake fan and a outtake fan u can use bathroom vent they are efficient and cost 14 bucks at home depot....now u will need nutes ph up and down... Ph meter.... I personally dont like strips...then we got buffer solutions,... Light cost.. Alot of shit... I would recomend to just gather all ur equipment little by little. Personally I dont like to cheap out on necessary equipment.... Only the best for my girls...oh and a thermometer.... Something to measure humidity... Bloom nutrients...

My first grow(CFL) cost about $200 to harvest. $40 in clones and $160+/- in equipment and nutes, soil, etc. 4 plants, 6.5oz.
