Botanicare aeration formula @ a local store its coco and perlite mixed to perfection real light easier to flush and feed than soil real good drainage and water retention.
Run a hydro ph though because of the more oxygen in the root zone.
Coco is the closest thing to hydro but hand watering.

Black Gold potting mix (4), Black Gold worm castings (1), and perlite (1)

This mix is kind of a clean slate, so-to-speak. It contains very little nitrogen as it's only nutrient. It's very forgiving and you can begin adding your own nutrients after a week or two without worrying about messing up your plants. The potting mix is good by itself but it firms up too much for decent aeration. The worm castings add an extra boost of start-up nitrogen without burning the hell out of your babies. And the perlite makes it lighter and more breathable for the roots.

This all came from a local nursery but places like Home Depot, Lowes, KMart, etc. will more than likely have all this stuff.

Landfill compost, Sunshine peat moss mixed around 60/40 with a dusting of phosphorus and bloodmeal fert mixed in. Works great and stays dark green for a long time. Best of all its very affordable given the compost is free to anyone.

i recently just finished my first grow. The plant came out great but towards the end a bunch of these little plants started growing in the same pot. I was wondering if these were weed plants or just weeds? thanks for any help.

Pics would help, but i bet they were just small weeds(non-marijuana plants).

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

As a recent new member myself, let me say welcome to RIU. Instead of posting an unrelated question in this thread, you'd be much better off starting a new thread. You'll get more responses, and you'll avoid hijacking the original poster's thread.

I'm using Baccto mixed with perlite for my first grow. I got it from a local nursery as everything in the box stores was the basic MG crap. It's done me well so far. I've fed solely with worm castings so far (just starting week 5) and I am beginning Jack's Classic for next watering.

Happy frog for seeds and just rooted clones and ocean forest for when plants get bigger. I always read of people having ph issues with these soils but I have been through atleast a dozen bags of each with no issues at all.

Subcool's Super Soil This soil needs ONLY water no nutrients EVER!
This is yet one more Soil Mixing tutorial. This one is going to focus on making a batch in the city while keeping it neat and tidy. First we use a tarp and a sheet of plywood under so the shovel will slide easily as we mix and scoop.

Here is the recipe to make this concentrate!
You cannot grow plants directly in this super concentrate!

6 Bags Roots soil or equivalent high quality supped up grow soil
Note**I am trying a new product made by a local company that contains less fir bark called Harvest Moon
25 pounds Pure Worm Castings
½ cup Azomite trace minerals
2/3 Cup Sweet Lime IE Dolomite
1 Kilo Bone meal / IE 5 Pounds
1 Kilo Blood meal ( I use a bit more bone than Blood in this recipe)
1 Kilo Bat Guano bloom formula preferably Fruit bats
3/4 cup Epson Salts
I add MYCO BLASTto put some beneficial life in the soil
The Perlite and Coco I happen to have and it will make a better mix but it is not necessary.

I've been considering this but I'm indoor and would probably not even go through a couple bags worth in a year. Of course, I have a small garden so maybe I'll try this.

This mix needs to sit for a few months, doesn't it?
