Which dimmer to use for HLG-240H-C1400B ?

Any 100k ohm pot will work... but I would recommend a 120k ohm pot or a 100k in series with a 20k ohm resistor.

i think most pots are +/- 10%

are 120s more common than 110s?

the old wisdom was to throw a cheap 10kohm resistor in series with a 100

in any case you want full resistance because if you get a 100kohm pot thats only 90 kohm, your light will only be running at 90% of full brightness when cranked up

some other people put toggles in the dimmer circuit, as an "open" circuit (infinite resistance) can eek 105-108% output out of some drivers

That makes sense thx

So my parts list so far is starting to look like 12x Bridgelux EB strips. This is an experiment so easy on the knit picking people ;-) Its all Potcoin money anyway lol.

4 @ 5700K (already ordered)
8 @ 3000K (already ordered)
$100 USD

HLG-120H-C1400B
HLG-240H-C1400B
Best price so far is Mouser @ $140 USD , can Jerry at KingBrite do better?

2x 120K ohm pots
($5)
aluminum flats (8x4') 1/8"
aluminum angels (1x8') (22" square inside measure)
$90 USD (this bugs me, just doesn't seem it should cost anywhere near that much)

I am looking for a local sheet metal company who can build a profiled hood for this and I am starting to put together a temperature controlled fan assembly for the hood, I am thinking a 6" exhaust port (common to the tops of most tents I think. I have all the connector wires and switches. Also going to integrate a digital hygrometer/thermometer (ebay $2 flush mount) . I have 2x 40 watt old blurples that I think I may also build into this if there is room, also some far reds or few other diodes with just on off functions. So basically a Frankenlight :). I am going to disassemble a 120v kill-o-watt and flush mount that on the hood as well. Hopefully at the end I will have a light that will allow me to test in 2x2,3x3 and 4x4 tents with the ability to play with the spectrum a bit.

I am open to suggestions on the extra diodes, maybe some IR and far red like growmau5 QB combo build

edit: drivers are outside the tent so plenty of room in the frame.

naw dog go buy some old $10 hoods on craigslist
I looked at modding a couple old range hoods actually, but they are really expensive for some reason. I dont think I will find anything to fit 22" square, already scoured Kijiji. Craigslist sucks up here.
Can you link me to something like what you mean?

Maybe these will help. If shipping cost is crazy I found a little bit of helpful information. If you put a bunch of things in your shopping cart, I think it has to be over a certain dollar amount, you'll get a pop-up message saying you qualify for free shipping and it will give you a code. Take everything you don't need out, put the free shipping code in and enjoy.

like an old cheap vented HPS hood. my hydro store always has them used on the clearance shelf for $10-$15. no socket, no glass, just the metal
