Why do ALL the LED grows look so lame compared to HID?

With a 3 week veg that would be ideal, with a 6 week veg it would be pointless. Thats what I was saying
I get what your saying, you veg yours(not mine) for 4 weeks...but if both sides veg for the same amount of time it doesn't matter. I veg till the plants are ready to be flipped...when they have filled the grow space enough. Sometimes that is 3-4 weeks, sometimes it's more. Will you just tip the hat and say cool, we will see when it's done... or do you always have something to try and pick because it's not move for move how you would do it??

Apaches may be the most expensive, but I wouldn't allude to them being the best LED solution out there. DIY builds will blow the pants off any pre-made panel out there, including all of RIU's big 3: Apache, A51, and Hans.
If price wasn't an issue apache is usually the first choice.

There are a few DIY panels that are really good, but not every one is a success...most aren't in fact. And the ones that are great might as well start their own company fro the time and $ they put into it. To say they blow apache(or a51 for that matter) away is a stretch too. Hans maybe, I'm not sold on hans being one of the greats. Apache at600 or getting enough(4) a51/at200's is/are the only lights I feel can replace a 1000hps. Is there a DIY pulling 1.5-2lbs/4x4??

If 1 of you led pros will show me a led grow that beats a 600 or 1000 watt hid with the same veg time il shut up. Hyroot has plants that are vegged for 3 months, try that with hid and see what you have, show me 1 grow that isnt a sog where led wins
All the plants you see in the video that I posted at post#82 were grown 12/12 from seed, no veg time. Try that one out

you cant veg 6 plants for 6 weeks and flower them under 1 1000 watt light but you can with led, thats the point

You cant veg 6 plants for 6 weeks and flower them in a 4x4 tent under 1 1000 watt light, you will yield less vegging 6 weeks than you would at 4, thats my point. Not seeing why thats so difficult to follow. The 3 week veg was great

Take a look at SupraSPL's threads if you'd really like to see DIY getting over 1GPW. I own an xgs-190 from area 51, and have been completely underwhelmed by its performance. With those overpriced panels, you'd need to spend at least $2000 to match a $200 HID.

OK now for some speculation: I'm betting my new 400W COB panel will DESTROY the yield I was getting with 1000w in terms of GPW. This is because I have an upstairs growing area in southern California and it is simply too expensive and too hot to economically run HID. In order to keep my 1000w HID cool I had to run AC, and ended up paying over $1200 in electricity just for a single 18oz run. So if I even get 12oz with the 400W of COBs, I'll be beyond stoked! Not to mention, my panel will likely last the next decade.

Your plants look great, led works great, iv never said it doesnt, iv said led works great several times. If you can only grow 5 plants at a time and as many crops a year as you can, hid will always win, that is what I have said repeatedly

thats doesn't make any sense... the tga guys veg under 1000's and flower the under the same. and alot of people do theat with led.. You must have hit your head or something. more noobie logic huh..

did you not see my video? NO VEG TIME, go on the 12/12 from seed thread and find plants as nice as mine grown with HIDs ... not that many... or any? The last plant in the video was 5.5 oz with no veg time I have never seen anyone beat that except maybe Dell once but imo the plant looked like shit

You guys are all dumb for arguing with each other to begin with, and LED and HIDs are both great lights. If you use them together you will see fantastic results or even if you just use one or the other. The HPS is a lower up front cost but the energy costs are higher. The LED is a great light and there are many good LED manufacturers or you can DIY and make an amazing LED yourself. So overall HID and LED are both great light sources that will grow marijuana fabulously.

So you can get 5.5 oz plants with 12/12 from seed regularly? 12/12 from seed is a crapshoot

Show me a hid grow wher 6 plants from seed were vegged under hid for 6 weeks and then flowered in a 4x4 tent where half the plant isnt cut off due to overcrowding. My tent is full with 4 plants with a 4 week veg

Just wondering why all the LED grown pics when compared to HID pics look so weak. People all excited about buds which are so small. I have yet to see an LED grow which even equals MH/HPS grow.

After spending thousands I wish I would not have let myself fall for the hype.
That's because most of them can't grow very well. Unpopular thing to say but mostly the truth hurts.

Guess what? Jbone and BSD are smarter than everyone! Bow down to their superior knowledge.

We've heard all of your wisdom about LEDs so please don't post about them again, and everyone will be happy.

it used to be a crapshoot indeed. I got 5.5 oz from Agent Orange which is known to yield well. Now that I have been using my own cross for 12/12 from seed and been collecting genetic for a while it's becoming less of a crapshoot. Many advantages to grow 12/12 from seed, I get to see results really quickly and I can still monster crop and have copy of them if they are special.
