Why do libertarians support Republicans?

Saw this today on Huffpo. DeSantis is breaking a contract and trust with Disney over an agreement made long ago that made Disney Corp repsonsible for building and maintaining public infrastructure in the area of Disney World.

Ron DeSantis To Run Disney District After 'Don't Say Gay' Feud
Florida Senate Republicans approved a bill that paves the way for the GOP governor to soon take control of Walt Disney World’s self-governing district.

It's all about the feud DeSantis is having with Disney over the temerity of Disney to object to Desantis's incredibly invasive attack on freedom of speech in schools by enforcing the Don't Say Gay law that him and his totalitarian theocrats are ramming into Florida's school system. A solution to fix a problem that doesn't exist.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will soon take control of Walt Disney World’s self-governing district after Senate Republicans approved a bill Friday punishing the company over its opposition to the law critics call “Don’t Say Gay.”
The legislation, which now awaits the governor’s signature, would require DeSantis to appoint a five-member board to oversee the government services the district provides in the company’s sprawling properties in Florida.

“This all seems a retaliation by the governor for Disney voicing its support for the LGBTQ community,” Democratic Sen. Linda Stewart said Friday before the bill’s passage.

The measure also changes the district’s name from the Reedy Creek Improvement District to the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District and subjects it to various layers of state oversight. Board members are currently named through entities controlled by Disney.

The bill leaves the district and its financial abilities and debt obligations intact, addressing a chief concern of surrounding governments. It also prevents people who have worked with or contracted with a theme park in the past three years from serving on the district’s new governing board.

Isn't private control of things like utility districts what libertarians want? What about Desantis's fixation on suppressing freedom of speech and his culture war against people in the LGBTQ demographic? I thought libertarians were for less government intrusion.

Dude, they are dumb and make bad decisions.

It is a consistent theme.

Dumb people are more susceptible to propaganda.

Why do you think companies like JG Wentworth and Peachtree exist?

Geniuses, they are not. But maybe average in intelligence? I'm interested in seeing what kind of prezel logic they use to go from "me liburtaryian" to "I vote Republican" when their banner carrier, DeSantis is acting more like a big government Republican in the style of Nixon than the ideology of so-called libertarianism. (ok, so maybe I'm also poking fun at them too)

How do they reconcile the contradiction?

What I’ve observed from our captive specimens is that they’ve accepted an ideology that comes with built-in internal contradictions that cannot be resolved using reason. Like a Rubik’s cube on which some prankster has swapped two color squares, every permutation is a nonsolution. No matter how much you rearrange it.

At that point, more or less cognitive dissonance doesn’t matter; the division by zero has been done.

It's called compartmentalization among people who study Authoritarian Right followers like MAGA GOP types. They just compartmentalize their beliefs. Like being hard core Christian and persecuting unhoused people.

Maybe libertarians have a rationale that explains their support for Republicans. I'm just giving libertarians a chance to explain themselves.

In that case I’ll stand back and I’ll something something!

I know I'm an oddball, in many ways...
If i was in charge of Disney, I'd just shut down operations in florida for...2 to 3 years...stop taking reservations after the first of next year, announce that the park and ALL associated attractions will be closed down for deep cleaning and maintenance, Employees can take time off, or help with the cleaning and maintenance, or ask for a transfer to another park.
I know that would cost Disney, but it probably actually needs to be done, it would cost florida hundreds of millions, if not billions...and it would shut the park down till desantis is out of office in fl, one way or another.
yeah, entirely impractical, but sometimes you have to implement a crazy idea to reach crazy ass people.

The shareholders are very unlikely to tolerate such a course of action.

Disney is everything in Florida- I would be very careful if I were DeSantis..you don't want to make them your enemy.

Abigail Disney is a Progressive I believe. Fuck the stockholders. This is about freedom in general. Disney is free to shutdown any time it sees fit. Pandemic..shitty GOP governors.
No, actually. Were they privately held, then perhaps. But as a corporation with public stock, the big shareholders hold the aces. The board reports to them.

I don't know exactly what libertarians want...they seem much like republicans in that way. they say they want one thing, and then seem to work against it in their next breath.
What they both seem to want is a government in place to bail them out when they fuck up, but that has no power of oversight, no ability to make or enforce rules, no way to enforce accountability at all.
Libertarians say the government should be funded voluntarily, republicans are for taxing the poor and the working class, while giving the rich a free ride. Neither plan seems viable in the short term, much less for the long haul. They both want to gut the FBI, the CIA, the post office, the health care system, and the IRS, because those are things that have oversight into their doings, that help someone besides them, that make it harder for the elderly, minorities, and shut ins to vote, or that want to collect what they owe...
So i can see why two different but very, very similar cults would support each other. Until they get what they both want, and then it's knives out, two cults enter, one cult leaves...

Disney World is in Florida so they need to play by Florida's rules. They can always move if they want,
A lot of people in Florida might be moving with rising sea levels and a real good hurricane. I understand it is already difficult to get mortgage insurance there and no insurance, means no mortgage which means no means no sale and plunging property values. That should happen long before the sea level actually rises to a high enough level to cause evacuation, but a good hurricane would finish them pretty quick.

They’ll simply add a Little Mermaid attraction.
