wasn't being defensive was just not understanding who you said didn't exist...If UPS had to deliver first class mail it would cost more the 44 cent for a letter...hmmm what about that wonderful junk mail who going to take that load..

It costs the post office more than 44 cents too, thats why they have been bankrupt for the last 4 years. Operated at billions of dollars of loss each year. The post office is not properly managed.

Yes.
No government to me does not mean
chaos. I want to live in a world where people are free to associate without being
extorted. This does not mean things do not get done. It means those who desire certain things do not force others to deliver them.

If you are truly open minded I can recommend this book. The Market For Liberty. It was written by a friend of friend, Morris Tannehill. It does a much better job than I can discussing why government is often the CAUSE of problems rather than the solution.

Being a voluntaryist, I'd be okay if YOU and others form alliances and call it government, just don't force me or other peaceful people to belong and we'll get along fine. Sadly, I can't say "government" reciprocates though.
I'd add that if you want a "government" in a free society, this government cannot control a given territory unless it has purchased this land from the free market. Good luck sustaining this government voluntarily though. Once people see how much more prosperous the outside society is, they will no longer want to live under the rule of their government.

I apologize if I read into defensiveness that wasn't there. It seemed to me that you were being very snarky, but maybe not.

I don't know the answer to what the cost would be in a free market situation, but the cost would certainly be lower than it is now. It has been proven undeniably that a free market service is far more efficient and cost effective than its government counterpart.

Nodrama is right... The cost is not truly $0.44 a stamp when the postal service is subsidized to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars every year.

Not a single one of you radical left wingers has a fucking clue what Im talking about with the light bulbs do you? not one complete brain even if you put all your parts of a brain together. And Cloud, no matter how many posts you make claiming to be a conservative will make anyone actually believe you are anything other than a radical leftist.

Oh yea, you're full of it. My political ideology has what exactly to do with your ridiculous claim of heating your house with incandescent light bulbs??

You have no political ideology, You say your a conservative, yet everything you espouse is socialist. You wouldn't know a conservative view if it bit you on the ass.

The product of incandescent bulbs seems to be heat, the light is almost an after thought. If you don't believe me stick your tongue on a 100 watt light bulb and see how long you can keep it there. :-P

government enforced monopolies are not unusual when establishing services... once established, they are sold off...

the USPS is facing problems with decreased demand, and that's affecting their liquidity, but i don't think it should be sold off, mainly because it is doing a good job at keeping costs EXTREMELY low while maintaining exceptional efficiency...

Its a good way to heat your house if you want to waste money and electricity.

You still don't get it, because your brain is broken. I mean you can have someone in BOLD letters tell you that they aren't using incandescent to heat with, but you still don't understand what that means. You just don't have the mental capacity to understand that incandescent give off heat, and that helps heat your house in the winter so that you don't have to use your furnace as much as you would if you used CFL's. You will save money using CFl in the summer though, no doubt.

Let me see if I can find a 3 year old to explain it to you.

If you can't understand a simple light bulb giving off heat, then there is no way you can understand grown-up subjects, like money and politics. Go back to playing with the fat colored wooden blocks cloud.

FWIW my house uses nothing but CFL for light.

I am all for the private sector and capitalism for most things but I think there are certain things where that model just won't work. Things like military, law enforcement, and health care just cant be run without some government involvement. Greed and power are just too tempting for man.
