Will the Aerogarden 6.0 elite+ tomato grower work as well as the other aerogardens?

Hey everyone. I've been reading Aerogarden forums on this site for days now but I can't seem to find anything about the Aerogarden 6.0 elite+

http://www.aerogardenstore.com/promotion/index.php?promoName=catalog&pageName=product_aerogardens&viewProduct=6000-0GP

Unlike the other aerogardens, it actually sprays a mist onto the roots instead of having the roots submerged in water.

It has the 3 bulbs as the pro 200 does, as well as being able to extend to 2 feet tall.

In addition, although it only has 6 pods, it IS the later(latest?) version compared to the 7 pod classic. This model uses "active microbial sponge" instead of the classic inert sponge which is supposed to increase yield by 33%

This is what they advertise about their watering system in the model:

Advanced Growing System (AGS): Direct oxygenation by aeration (air pump).

as opposed to the classic:

Classic Technology: Passive oxygenation from drip action (water pump).

HAS ANYONE USED THIS MODEL? I'm afraid of purchasing it before I read any positive reviews of successful growth. Please respond soon, I'm getting ancy about ordering ;)

Also, does anyone have any idea if the rez still works the same way, but it just constantly mists the roots? I've already put in an order for hydroponic nutrients and I want to be sure I can still use them! :D

It is... but if you read my post above, you'd see that the way it delivers nutrients are different (airation / misting of water / roots) and also that the sponge used for germination is different. This is the later model. They figured that before it was too crowded, and that with 6 bigger pods and more light you'd get more yield (approx 30%) than 7 clustered pods with less light. Makes sense.... ON PAPER.

I'm just looking for some personal experiences here... I trust this site :)

Haven't come across a single person who has used that model, and if its new, theres no way someone could have already had a harvest with it. If you think the 'misters' are going to be better, go for it. I really don't because your plants can drink all they want with a nice big res. If they aren't suspended in water and are just getting misted.. where is the water thats coming out of the misters coming from? Theres no way to have a true aero system without a seperate res. Your roots will always grow into the water.

I really don't think the sponges make that big of a deal, people grow in AGs using rockwool cubes. I don't think anyone is using the sponges the way they were intended, most people cut holes in them for the roots to grow out of.

Big airstone + regular AG drip system works fine.

Sorry I was wrong with my post above... one of the descriptions I read online told me about the misting. I just called and asked the actual company. Didn't mean to post bad info! The way this model works is it grows the roots by "wicking" or... just like the other aerogardens do. In this model it actually comes with an airstone at the bottom of the tank already. They said it eliminated the water pump entirely because of the airstone... he said that with the airstone the water was much more oxygenated than with the pump... thoughts / opinions?

is it better to keep the water pump model (pro 200) and add your own airstone, or simply eliminate the pump altogether and get an airstone with it for the same price?

I could always add an additional airstone to the model 6... and have 2? opinions?
