Will this work!? (Bubbleponics)

This isn't my first grow but If I have reinforcement that my ideas for my set up will work it will indeed be my first attempt at growing Hydroponics. This indoor grow is going to a bit different than any other of my previous grows mostly because I have moved and the space I have to work with here is VERY SMALL. (2.5ft X 2.5ft) and hieght is not an issue; but considering it is a small closet ventilation might be..?
GROW STYE-- Sea Of Green // just seems like the best option for my situation. I will be starting from seed and using rockwool and hydroton.
SYSTEM-- Bubbleponics // been doing a lot of reading and decided this is best for my operation here.

This is the part where I need to know will it work? yes? no?
This system will consist of 2 containers each being (1ft X 2ft X HOW DEEP?)
Each container will consist of 8 net pots (3.75 inch)
Each container will be supplied with its own water pump. Do they make 8 port manifolds? or can I split some lines without shorting plants of what the need?
Can I run ONE stronger air pump to supply BOTH containers? Will 2 airstones (8inch) PER CONTAINER be enough?

NUTES-- Im going to follow the instructions on the bottles (General Hydroponics, I think is what its called. (cheap stuff)

VENTILATION-- (2) 4 inch fans and leaving the door cracked as much as possible?

LIGHTING-- Considering the poor air transfer my HPS bulb is out of the question so that leaves me with CFLs. I plan on making my own sweet reflectors that will hold 2 bulbs each and place one over each container. I plan to use 200w CFL bulbs so that means each container will be getting 400w of light bringing my total to 800w.

GOAL-- The goal here is to hopefully have a good female to male ratio and to yeild 14 grams PER PLANT (dry weight)

NOw you tell me...will this work?

Sounds good to me ! I'm growing in my heater closet ! It's about the same size and I've got a 400 watt hps in there now ! Not too bad heat wise the worst it gets is the low 80s. I started out with a st.hydr 6 hole set up , ended up taking one plant out and putting it in dirt it was a real runt ! and moved one other to a home made smaller res bubbler. There ALL in this closet. (I've got an album on my page here). So you should have no problems !

Cool man, thanks for the boost in confidence, you must be venting air out of your space at a decent rate, unless 400 just doesnt get that hot... I have a 600w HPS I usually use and I know that would be way to hot for this, I had heat problems on my first grow with that bulb mainly because i didnt think that it would be so hot.

BUMP come on you bubbleheads!

well then, without delay I'm pretty sure this will work just fine. I found some 14 gallon roughneck containers that meet the required dimensions i have to work with and if a 5 gallon bucket with 3.75 gallons of water in it can support 3 plants, then a 14 gallon container with 10.5 gallons of water will support 8 plants. its almost the exact same gallon to plant ratio-- my application would have an eighth of a gallon more water per plant. So I guess I'm going to get to work here starting maybe as soon as tonight and I will get some pics up when there is something to look at.

Also I just want to add that everything I have learned on bubbleponics is all thanks to Roseman and I am looking forward to yet another journey.

Well the 400 does through some heat but its been staying around 75-78 so its getting better with the winter here . 6oo would be a bitch in the small closet I have a 4" vent fan sucking air through my light it seems to help a bit but I'd want at least a 6" fan with any bigger bulb. For nutes check out technaflora you can find them on amazon or ebay they have a starter set up called " recipe for success" that has all products in a nice box with complete mixing directions and its pretty cheap too..

Your setup sounds like it will work great. The only thing that I don't know about is 8 plants per reservoir because I don't believe they make an 8 port manifold but I'm almost positive there are 12 ports out there and you could just turn off 4 of them. You will definitely have enough bubbles as long as your pump is strong enough. Even 1 8" airstone would be enough for each container but the more bubble the better. I can't wait to see this setup. Get some pics up when you can and we will help you through it. Good luck!

hell yea dude I'm stoked i just got the funds for the project and I might get to shopping as early as tomorrow!! and since walmart doesnt have the 200 watt cfls like I want; instead of running two 200 watters per res, I'm gonna run three 150's per res. I think 900 watts of lighting in a 2.5ft X 2.5ft should yield some fatties. I'm just a bit worried i might be let down i dunno...i'm so use to running HID lighting! oh well I've seen some pretty impressive CFL grows going on, hopefully we can put this one on that list pictures will be coming soon as I start building, as I like to have a nice slide show from start to finish. If you're ever bored and wannta check out my last grow (outdoor) it was a pretty successful grow. its called "6ft. tall and starting to show preflowers" in the outdoor section.... btw my avatar is a pic of my white widow I grew outdoors this year. =)

well I did some shopping and got pretty much everything I need, I need a little more tubing and 2 manifolds. I cant find a place to buy those manifolds so I might have to order from online or something. I took a couple pics tonight to give you guys an idea of what's goin on here.

well I found those 8 port manifolds I was looking for at lowes online but I'm not driving an hour and a half to get em so I'll just get them shipped. still waiting on the bulbs and still have to pick up some more tubing and make a valve at the bottom for draining....yea damn a lot of work to do yet but i'm one step closer today because I got my sweet reflectors built. I used cardboard from a large tv box, duct tape, tape measure, razor knife, black marker, straight edge and bought one of those reflctor things they sell for keeping the sun out of your windshield.

well I now have everything I need to undertake this jouney and I have now started to germination process, hopefully in a few days I'll have some sprouts to show off. I will be using seeds I gathered from my outdoor crop this season as there was some breeding action going on. Also I'd just like to add that when these CFLs came in the mail I was like holy shit i didnt know CFLs got this damn big!!!

I always start my seeds in a shot glass of water, first the seeds float on top then after a day i push them down with my finger and they all sink to the bottom.....well all my seeds have sank and should be poppin like crazy come tomorrow morning, one has already split so its only a matter of a day until I have 16 split seeds, then I'll be ready to drop em in the rockwool and into the dome under low light. I'm going to try to post them pics again, hopefully this time it will work....

Am I foolish to use these 5000k bulbs throughout the whole grow, I'm use to just using an HPS for both veg and flower but this is total opposite. I just dont have much money right now and buying the 2700k bulbs will set me back another 70bucks.....a little feed back on this one would be much appreciated. btw i am starting to get extremely pissed off that RIU, for no apparent reason is no longer lettting me post pictures, I've posted all my pics from this grow and a few more that dont show up on the thread here, in my profile album but i cant view them so i dont even know if they will show up for you guys or not, i'm getting so frustrated!!!!!!!!

well as of this morning 13 seeds have split but I'm gonna wait one more day cause I still need 3 more to split, besides I like to wait til there is a little taproot pokin out anyway. I got the tanks set up last night filled with water and have been running since. I just wanted to get the feel for getting the ph levels stable and how much noise this little set up is gonna make, temps etc. today I gotta make my little covers for the holes so light doesnt shine in my tanks.... wish I could show you pics but RIU is stilll not letting it happen. :(

Volcom, Looks like your ready to go! I'm down to 4 plants in my hydro closet grow and believe me their growing out of the closet !! My temps are great no more than mid 70s and night time with no lights on their around high 60s. Be carefull with buying cfls I switched to them for veg at the beginning. All the 6500k bulbs I found were marked 100watt in big letters. , but after I had 6 of them hanging a couple of inches over the plants I noticed they wern" growing as fast as everyone said they would ! So I looked at the bulbs again and they are only 26W !! Thats bear minimun for vegging. So make sure the wattage on cfls. You can get some great ones at either Stealth Hydro or other lighting shops . Sorry if I'm ranbling got up and it was raining so no work woke and baked and now I'm cleaning house ! Yeah right! anyhow you will shit when your closet starts to fill up with nice green weed!!Looks and smells great ! https://www.rollitup.org/members/ol-hippy-albums-first-grow-picture93166-spots-over-nuted-what-002.jpg This pic is a wk ago !!

yea I did a fair amount of research on CFLs before i picked my weapon of choice. I actually decided to just run 2 bulbs (one over each res.) the bubls are 105w bulbs that produce 420w of light (5000k).....now I know you can veg and flower with these same bulbs all the way through because it would be that same as using an MH for flowering which people do all the time, but if I get some extra money I would like to get the same bulbs in a 2700K....but that might be a little ways down the road.

THose babies look good, man I love indicas :) give me a link so i can follow along with your grow. BTW- I forgot to mention that my initial guess of 10.5 gallons in a 14 gallon container was a bit off; I am going with 8 gallons of water so I can have that much needed 2inches of airspace in the res.....but thats still a gallon per plant ratio which should be good enough.

Alrighty then I got everything set to go now!! whew setting up grow rooms is always so much work and when you think your done, theres always that "oh yeah! i gotta put this there and do that and this.....maybe this would be better like this....lol well after all that I am now all set up and just letting it run for a while then I'm gonna check the PH and if its good I'm gonna drop in the seeds (which have been soaking in water for 2 days now and they all appear to be split and ready to rock. btw I will add that i dont have a temp on my water yet...i'm going to pick that up later if the snow stops.
