Why Are Americans So Stupid

Why are Americans so stupid? Why do they think it’s okay to shout down facts with opinion, rumor and hearsay? Ted Rall has a theory, and it ain’t pretty.

Americans are dumb.

That’s what people say. Especially non-American people.

But lots of Americans think Americans are stupid, too. They don’t think they are the dumb ones, of course. They think other Americans are stupid.

It will not, even if you’re an idiot, come as a shock when I admit here that one of the Americans who think Americans are intellectually challenged is … me.

I know moronitude is ubiquitous, but …

Moronitude exists everywhere, of course.

But what makes stupidity in America stand out is that most Americans - the dumb ones, I mean - don’t even think it’s bad to be dumb. Far from being ashamed, they’re dumb and they’re damned proud of it.

And the dumb ones even make fun of the small and constantly shrinking population of intelligent ones as clueless hopelessly out of touch.

I agree with Mr. Rall. I've been saying this same thing for decades, especially after every election. People are mostly idiots, and the idiots actually think that they are smart enough, that they don't bother to listen to people who are smarter than them. "Common sense" is what it's referred to, and most people don't have it.

Little things that we take for granted, like reading comprehension, and listening skills, are what is required. Most people are lacking in both of those and other traits that determine the ability to reason.

There is also the 20 percent of people that have mental issues, and those conditions skew their reasoning abilities downward.

There has been a concerted effort keep americans dumb.
Remember when you were a kid and you were told to respect your teacher? Now they "only" work a few months out of the year and have these evil unions to protect them. Cut their salary, that will really attract the best!
Education in this country is a joke. It is designed specifically to create factory workers. Which of course, we mostly don't need anymore.
Until we decide as a country that being dumb is our fault and that education is important, people like trump will be in power.

You're right. Every time teachers are brought up on FOX Radio, the idea that they only work a few months out of the year is mentioned.

FOX likes to vilify this way. Hannity is best at it. Anytime he doesn't like somebody he speculates that they only work a few hours a day with their feet up sipping skinny lattes. Their office is full of "encounter games" and tinker toys and they are not real Americans.

I don't know if it is dumb or they just stick to their guns without a second thought. Which may be seen a stupid, yes. I really think American's just don't want to change their minds once they believe what they said is right, even if it is not.( People on the right):spew: There lies the problem, along with the ones the don't know shit and just comment to be part of the Problem.

The man who raised me used to preach respect to teachers. Now he says they are useless and it's only really a 'Part" time job.
One of his many flip flops in the last few years. We speak very little.
Seems to me it should be one of the more respectful occupations. But we think "reality" stars are the real heroes.
We just keep getting dumber and dumberererer (NOT a misspelling. I did that on purpose. Guess I have to point these things out now)

Not really sure, you'd have to locate the thread. UB and Baldrick were there, something about busting Baldrick's balls for bringing him over from GC as one of the 'good guys'....I've since cut him off.

I did not bring him over, dude. And I am not buying him a drink or letting him take your turn bowling.

I had minor contact with a user by that name at GC. I am not even sure this is the guy. He certainly has not responded to me here. I suspect troll-play. I know somebody who trolls this way.

Rall hits on another point that I have been noticing. A few years back, geek-chic was all the rage. I don't see that anymore. Not sure who the new "it - kid" is now but they might be alt-right and have nazi hair.



Some of these might be the same people. White folks all look alike to me.
