LOL
You know I was never in a proper shoe store (other than k mart) until I was i my 20s.
There were many older children in my area so I always thought I was a size X. And let's be honest, I only wore shoes about half the year anyway. Had bad knees and had back issues even when I was young.
From the age of 14-24, I never wore anything other than engineer boots or rubber boots. My 2nd wife drug me to one finally when I was 24. The guy measures my feet. Looks at me. Measures them again.
He says, "your feet are very odd. One foot is half size bigger than the other and you have 6E widths(shoe size 8.5). I have nothing here that will fit you".
Back then I ended up having a local cobbler make me a pair of boots. Just kept re soling them.
A decade or so ago I started finding them online. Last few years they are getting harder to find.
Most of the people I know call them "Indian feet". I do not know my heritage (pretty sure I've got some Irish) so unsure if this is accurate. They are also hard on the bottom. Like plastic. I can run full bore in a rock quarry or walk on hot asphalt.
However I also can't feel the bottom, which has led to some interesting situations, lol.
Sorry for the rant.
