witnesses to compact strains not being as good as REAL stretchy sativas, please

I think you should probably take a break from forums buddy. All you ever seem to do is get irate about something or whine about "watered down hazes"... You want to live like the 70s and 80s? Go to Scotland, where Heroine is still "cool".

I grow landrace sativas indoors fairly regularly, its kind of a 'thing' of mine, and there's a fairly simple secret. Don't flower your seed plants. Keep them in veg forever. Instead, when they are old enough to sex from their preflowers, cut your female clones, and when they have sufficiently rooted, put them straight into flowering. Many tropic zone sativas will grow vegetatively for three-five weeks after 12/12 induction, ending up with an overall 4-5x stretch, and flowering them when they are clones of 12 inches or less will still result in some big, healthy plants without the adverse growth problems that can be caused by 12/12 induction before the plant is sexually mature. (See some of hazey grapes grows for visual representations of these effects)

Also, yes, they will often herm like a motherfucker, partivularly thai dominant strains, late in flowering for either no reason or the slightest provocation. Just have to stay on top of it, which ain't easy.
Thanks for the advice, tried to give you rep for this, but apparently I've already given you too much and can't! In general starting from clones is advisable for all of the long-flowering strains. . .if you can.

My (limited) experience with these sorts of landrace lines is that you should assume they WILL go hermie (period). If you're only growing a plant or two and/or don't care about ceeds, maybe this doesn't matter, but I think this makes them prohibitive for anyone who wants to grow a number of different things at once.

I consider this sort of grow more of a "novelty" than anything else. If you've got plenty of room, ability to maintain mother plants, time for the extra labor, and don't care about yields, flowering time, or potential for hermies, these kinds of grows can be fun especially if you're interested in quality over quantity. Unfortunately, I think this doesn't apply to many (if not most) home growers.

If you can only grow a few plants at a time for legal or space reasons, and if you don't have a lot of experience growing, cloning, etc, these kinds of plants probably aren't suitable.

WTF! Cruelty by neglect!!!
Are you saying you don't wanna lick that lollipop? Pshaw.
the funny/sadder part of that is that i think that is the one he blamed on 'his fan not going on one night'! look at those stems....
i think maybe he started it on 12/12, and put it on bloom nutes when it was still too young to flower.
Oh wait, the real saddest/funniest part is that he talks on here like he's some master grower with valid opinions on dozens of strains. If he were a cartoon, I would watch the Crazey Grapes show.

and another extremely trippy strain that grows really well, flowers in a decent time frame and is not that tall

After years of hard work and intense selections with sativas from all around the world, we can confirm that Malawi is the most powerful and psychedelic landrace sativa we know. Its dense flowers of enormous trichomes compete with the most powerful indica/sativa and indica hybrids on the market in reference to their size and cannabinoids
concentration.

The potency of their flowers is simply devastating, and it is especially
recommended for experienced smokers that seek extreme sativa effects without renounce to an abundant harvest.

STRUCTUREYIELD / M2
Sativa of medium internodes and strong branching.High.
BOUQUETHIGH
Strong, concentrated aroma of oil, wood and lemon.Extraordinarily powerful, intense and psychedelic, with more than 4 hours of duration. Only recommended for hard and experienced smokers.
GROWING TIPS
Although this sativa shows all its potential in tropical/subtropical climates, it has been grown with very good results in latitudes up to 43ºN.
Indoors for growing small columnar plants or SOG, you should start from the clone or seed at 12/12 just a few days after the rooting. This sativa is highly recommended for SCROG, horizontal or network growing due to its excellent production of lateral branches and its vigorous reaction to pruning.

We only recommend Malawi for the hardest and most experienced smokers because its extreme power usually “destroys” the majority of the smokers. DO NOT mix it with alcohol and DO NOT use any dangerous machinery under its effect.

Honestly, that's a metaphor I'd rather not see applied here.

the funny/sadder part of that is that i think that is the one he blamed on 'his fan not going on one night'! look at those stems....
i think maybe he started it on 12/12, and put it on bloom nutes when it was still too young to flower.
IIRC, he deliberately stripped off all the lower leaves, thinking that this is how you "SCROG". Then he posted a characteristic two page rant about how the whole SCROG technique is no good!

Obviously, that wasn't the only grow error here; my guess is the plant had insufficient root volume and light, plus nute issues too. The fan not going on was probably just the proverbial camel back-breaking straw.

Interestingly, at least at the time the picture was taken, I think the above plant probably could have been saved, with proper care (ie by someone OTHER than Hazey). Maybe not worth the effort, but that's a separate issue.

Oh wait, the real saddest/funniest part is that he talks on here like he's some master grower with valid opinions on dozens of strains. If he were a cartoon, I would watch the Crazey Grapes show.
Yeah, he's a regular Wesley Willis.

I am laughing my ass off at those pathetic plants of that numbnutz Grape Herpes or whatever dudes name is.

Or this from USC on Sannies site...

Colombian gold X Jamaican lambsbread

Features
This plant is a pure sativa, F1 cross between two inbred lines!!
These two lines give tall plants, which bloom in 14/16 weeks, the effect can be well balanced between the high and the stone, and it can give a totally psychedelic high for some phénos!
The smell is quite spicy / hazy / resin / slightly fruity, according to the phenotypes!

Alright Hazey,

Ill post some photos in reference to what I am saying...so no BS from me.

In the first photo, you can see 3 plants.

The smallest plant right in front is, Kandy Kush (Trainwreck x OG Kush) It is EXTREMELY sativa Dom. and the circle of growers I know that hold this cut let it flower for at LEAST 12 weeks.

The plant behind Kandy to the left is Jack Herer, It is the Indica dom phenotype, but still very haze like in smell and effect. 8-9 week flower time.

And Finally, the big girl to the upper right is Arctic Fallout (Snow Lotus x Chemdawg 91) Indica dom, 9 week flower.

This photo was taken the day Kandy Kush was put into flower. Notice the size of the plants, and how tall the bamboo poles are.
(10 gallon smart pots for size reference)

1.jpg

Now photo number 2, is about 3 weeks later after some real deal sativa STRETCH.

TAKE NOTE: Kandy Kush and Jack Herer have switched places.

Notice how the Kandy Kush is now taller than all the others, and even the bamboo. She stretched about 3.5 times during the last couple weeks. Notice the Arctic Fallout, she maybe put on 4 inches...

2.jpg

So, now for the punch line.

The 13 week flower super stretchy Sativa Kandy Kush is REALLY REALLY Bomb smoke, and people hoard this herb for headstash like crazy,

But the real winner of the group is Arctic Fallout, because it gets you HIGH, not stoned, HIGH, like a deep, cerebral, smile inducing, mind clarifying high.

It is super compact, fruity, chemmy and absolutely unique, smells like raspberry funk, nobody has anything like it, around here at least...and best of all, the effect is sublime.

This little bitch (an auto) I chopped down to ¼ of its height to stimulate male flowering but, alas, she refused point-blank!
She's only 2 in. tall now but I haven't the heart to scrap her just yet!
But backcrossing would be interesting ─ to breed out the Rude and the Ind . . .
There could be a fucking Thai in there, somewhere?
