STICK TO THEIR JOB
I won't get through to ya, but what Obama said was just a realistic opinion from his perspective on the issue that he previously mentioned. It was only a suggestion to his listeners and they cheered him on afterwards, I'm for Ron Paul... so don't think I like Obama, I am just trying to help you see why he said what he said and why it was unnecessary for you to get so inflamed about it. :blsmoke: He didn't say anything close to "When I get into office I will implement foreign language in our schools", nor would he ever suggest that be implemented.

I understand... and I'm just trying to help you to see that this is NOT what I want to hear out of a Presidential candidates mouth as it is NOT what he is being elected to do (offer opinion on our personal lives). I prefer he (and all candidates) stick to the ISSUES of the job the candidate is being elected to do.

I am not "inflamed" any more then you... I'm simply stating my opinion... the same as you are. My opinion just happens to be that I don't give a rats ass that he "thinks" our children should learn Spanish (again.. he's just pandering). I'd rather hear what his plans are for the job he is hoping to get.

Obama won't be getting my vote... nor will McCain. I don't like either one of them! Don't get me wrong.... I WILL VOTE.... I've voted in every single local and national election since 1984 (when I turned 18 and could vote). I'm just done voting for "the lessor of two evils". I will no longer play that game. My vote may not count.... but hopefully with enough time more Americans will opt out of casting their vote for the "lessor of evils" and start voting for who is really the best candidate to lead our Country and restore America to the greatness it once was. :peace:

Honestly it pisses me off that we are letting so many people who can't even speak English in to the US. On the other hand, alot of dumbass hip-hop drones can't even speak English because they are too busy shooting each other...

Maybe Obama should just smoke a bowl... or 10...:joint:

I have a huge problem with the government telling us our children SHOULD learn Spanish!

I would love to speak Spanish.... in fact I am trying to learn with some language software. Of course I bought the one that teaches you the Spanish they speak in SPAIN.... not the Spanish they speak in Mexico. If I ever go on vacation where the language is Spanish... it will be to Spain... not Mexico! Yes it's very similar... but there are differences.

Personally I don't think it's the government's job to tell us our children should speak another language any more then I think they should be telling us our children should believe in god and go to church! Don't they have anything fucking better to do.... like... oh say.... FIX THE ECONOMY!

This is America! The language IS ENGLISH! There is nothing wrong with being bi-lingual.... but I DO have a problem with the taxpayer expense to print all the forms in all the different languages! IMO... all forms paid for with US CITIZEN tax dollars should be printed in English only!

Obama should have kept his trap shut!
........are you talking about conversational spanish......because they speak that in most latin countries....even mexico......what i think you are refering to is the dialect......in which they speak many different dialects of spanish in spain as well as mexico as well as the other spanish speaking countries of the world...spanish is spanish as english is english.......it just depends on where you are from and the dialect and slang of that region....

and i agree with him.......like it or not a major force in the u.s are latin people.....and the person who can speak to them will be better off in the workforce than those who cannot....

I go along with Obama here. Children should be bi-lingual, second language should be irrelevant. Spanish, French, Russian, Chinese or Arabic. Any language the public schools offer based on the needs of the region is unimportant as far as I am concerned.

However, this bi-lingual sword cuts both ways. Anyone coming here MUST use the common language as the primary language rather than expect us to press 1 for English.

wow, i love how politics can tear a place apart...my 2 cents...after 9/11 i basically became a fox news junky, waiting for the next terrorism incident, i've always been a staunch supporter of bush, like it or not he's our president and that means something, i try not to get only one point of view on what's going on in the world so i check out other news stations as well, and i've learned alot for being 25 years old. the government is fucked up, the whole world is fucked up, everyone has facts and data that "prove" their side, i'm a republican, and i watched the democratic race a lot when it got down to the wire, i was apalled that democrats created "superdelegates", they created them because they felt the PEOPLE might elect someone who didn't agree with everything they, that reaks of hypocricacy, how can they create something to negate the popular vote.

but as far as iillegal immigration, my main problem is that many illegal immigrants don't pay any TAXES, like american citizens do, i don't think they should not get the say priviledges and services as we do, i just think they should work to be american citizens and pay taxes, if every illegal immigrant paid taxes our healthcare and school systems wouldn't be so poorly underfunded. it was typical of our government to butt heads on problems rather than finding fixes. i definetly agree that the two party system is messed up, that's why we all need to start voting for third parties, i think if they get 5% they qualify for something, you may be throwing your vote away this election and maybe the next two or three, but soon there could be a third party candidate in the white house, he may not be the right man for the job, but at least americans will have more options.

okay, i sad my piece, i know it was long, i always try to keep an open mind about other peoples believes, so please to start railing against me because i support bush, it's my right as an american

He didn't say anything close to "When I get into office I will implement foreign language in our schools", nor would he ever suggest that be implemented.

i would in a heartbeat:twisted:. its the way most private schools are(1st - 8th grade)though mine taught me french. a few have latin in there as well and go all the way up to geometry and pre calc. during this age a childs mind is very malleable and it works for a nation who's education policy might not be the greatest. if you dont agree, take responsibility and teach your child yourself. i love my parents but they would have never been able to teach me french as i still correct their english every once in a while.

y seamaiden, soy latino tambien, naci en la isla pero me criado en el noreste

Education is a major political issue for a candidate since there is a possibility that the candidate could reside over a very powerful position for almost a decade. that could be someones 1st - 8th grade... i do agree though with you on the lesser of two evils thing. both front runners are spokespersons for a greater political party, of which there are two sides. we need a person above that bigotry

I believe the more we know the better. While in the service, every country I went to the people seemed to always know at least two languages. Which actually makes us look bad. Now, I do have problems with this as well. In America, with the native language being english, therefore if you come here, you should at least know enough english to order dinner, and vice versa for us when we go to another non-english speaking country. I am decent at spanish, but it pisses me off when I go to Wendy's and I cant understand a fucking word they say. I usually just turn around and walk away. I have no problems at all with other nationalities, but if you are going to be part of an english society, then speak english. I should not have to change my ways and speak their language because they dont know english and they seek to be part of an english society. Dont get me started on when I call tech support, but thats a whole other story.

I wrote about this same thing on another site. great minds think alike... lmao. I got FLAMED for suggesting that Obama would even think about establishing the NAU.

Now with that being said, there is nothing wrong with speaking spanish. and yes, some people would actually benefit from being bi-lingual in America. But that doesnt mean mandate it. If im trying to be the most successful businessman there is, then yeah, you would be dumb to not learn another language. But if your focus is not money, if you just want to live a nice, quiet, peaceful, happy, life, to hell with spanish. I do believe this is The United States of America.

If I were to move to another country, I'd learn their language, not inconvenience and burden the populace and government to force them to adhere to my incompetence.

Currently, English is the "common tongue" in the world. All the aircraft pilots in the world have to know and speak english fluently. If a Korean pilot flies into China, he would have to converse in English to the air traffic controller.

Our world is becoming so politically correct that such trivial things are deemed unfair. Its businesses mainly that adhere to this. They're best interest is to appeal to every target audience. Its all about money, gentlemen. Now saying "Merry Christmas" in an ad might offend someone, somewhere and that means one less paying customer. This is unacceptable in their eyes, they will sell out any kind of values for profit. This kind of attitude is now the standard of practice in our society, anything else is deemed ignorant and backwards.

Obama is a scourge, a plague waiting to be unleashed. You people bring about your own destruction by voting for him, you have no one else to blame but yourself. Go forth and open the flood gates.
