Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to help out this noob. I have a small indoor cfl grow space that i have been doing 12/12 from seed for 4 weeks now. I have identified one female without question and have strong suspicions about suspected girls and boys which seem to all be getting ready to drop trouser and truly reveal. I have on Lil one I call runt that has always been behind the curve but for some reason always struck me as a fighter and had hopes for the underdog. I am seeing strange growth out of the top that in the past 24 hours looks more like a ball cluster forming than the typical growth I have seen out of the tops of the others to this poi t. Do I need to extricate this one asap? There are no other indicators one way or the other on this plant. They are all unknown bag seed by the way. I a not sure Iif the pic shows enough detail but it was worth a try. Thanks again for your help!20140305_155430-1.jpg

I will try to get a better picture. It is interesting as this unusual growth is only directly out of the top. This is the only one that has me Co fused and was just concerned maybe it was a runt mutant that may suddenly pop out pollen. Thanks again for your help.

Do you have any calyx showing at the nodes to go by? It is hard to tell by that picture wtf is going on there! Looks like it may be mutation of the new growth but i can't say for certain. see if you can find any calyx to take a photo of at the nodes to see if its showing sex

My first girl! I tried to get a pic of the nodes on the unusual runt but couldn't get a decent pic that wasn't blurry. As mentioned ed, there are no indicators as in balls or claws at this point. Is it possible for a male to basically put out a Lil cola bud of pollen right quick or do you think I am safe to watch it a bit?

You are still safe now my friend. Just keep an eye out for those balls and congrats on your girl!

Oh and as far as what appears to be a little cola bud I cant say for certain. Never ran into anything like that before showing sex. Maybe one of the long time vets can help when they come across your thread.

Ok. ... so this was the mutant this morning. I found another female but this one had me worried like it wants to pop early so I decided to lose it. Hope I didn't make a mistake. 20140306_084602.jpg

Unknown bagseed. This one looked so much different on the top and even though there were no other balls it sure looked like ball clusters forming on the top. It was so different from the confirmed females that I may have panicked and may should have waited but being the noob I am and having several females at potential risk I axed it. I have another that is taking on this resemblance on the top so any input would be appreciated both in terms of evaluation of sex as well as the time frame it would have taken for contamination if I was correct in my assessment. Thanks again.

Looks like normal bud development to me. They all grow differently. Even the same strain will appear different sometimes.. I've got two different Durban phenos that develop completely differently. One of them is rounded on top and the other on looks more like a triangle or pyramid on top.

Do some research on males and what they look like flowering. Do some research on hermies and how they appear. Look at photographs.
