I have heard others say they have found LP's advertised as Google Adwords and banner ads and what not as well. Haven't completely read the regulations myself but I'm guessing the LP's have found a loop hole. Advertising is probably defined as print, radio or TV, nothing about social media etc. Most their websites seem like nothing but one big advertisement really. Just my guess.

Since the conservatives don't understand social media, they don't consider it real media. Therefore if it is not media it doesn't count. A bit backasswards, but hey, consider the source.

Numerous LP's are pretty active in social media now that I look into it. Most of them have either Facebook and/or Twitter. I've come across a bunch of videos on YouTube too. Social Media is the number 1 advertising tool in the modern age, so really not being able to "advertise" in the traditional media mediums doesn't really matter, they are going to toot their own horn in other ways.

I personally know of two prospective LP's who have been told social media at all is not allowed. But then, obviously as you mention, others like Tweed and Agrima are all over it. Lots of contradictions.

They are not allowed to advertise through "regular media" - but they are allowed to advertise on line - so expect to see more on line ads soon.

It's because they fall under regulations put in place for pharmaceutical companies. That's why you don't see ads for pharmies in Canada. This may be the drawback of insisting it's 'medicine'. They want to regulate it as strictly as all other medicines.

that is inaccurate, they fall under tobacco laws not pharma laws.
