Hey jtdubz, I'm currently on my first grow with a simular set-up as you. I am growing in a 4x4x7 tent with a 600 watt Hortilux Blue bulb all the way through, a hydrofarm 6" inline fan with a phresh 400cfm carbon scrubber. I'm using promix hp for a medium and earth grow nutes as I'm growing all organic. I just started using earth juice ph-up as I recently read that the gh ph-up is synthetic and actually kills off beneficial microbes in the medium.

I started from seed on January 8, 2014 and as you can see from the first pic my seedlings are still seedlings lol. I've learned a lot by reading, but I've realized I should have done a lot more reading and preparation prior to germinating my seeds. So, it's been a lot of trial and error (mostly error) on my part. Here are some of the mistakes I made early on.

I started feeding nutes too early. I should have waited until my seedlings had at least their first set of true leaves or at least three weeks after sprouting.
I should have left the seedlings grow under my T5 light much longer than I did. I put them under the hid too soon. Bad economics on my part too lol
I should have waited longer to transplant into larger pots. By transplanting too early I stressed the seedlings pretty bad by disturbing the roots.
I should have let the seedlings develope a good strong root structure before transplanting
I hooked up my carbon filter right away and it was pulling not only the heat out of the tent but the little humidity that was available to the plants. I couldn't keep my humidity level above 20% without a humidifier. It also reduces the life of the carbon scrubber.
I should not have trimmed off dying leaves from the seedlings. The plants use the fan leaves for photosynthisis...duh
And probably more important than the above I should have paid closer attention to the pH of the water/nutrient solution. The root zone pH got too high I believe.

Here is a description of the attached pictures.

1. Seedlings as of today
2. Humidifier keeping the humidity level right around 45%
3. Box fan inside the tent
4. Right now I have duct coming in from outside the tent to the reflector then duct from the reflector outside tent to inline fan then to attic
5. Where carbon scrubber initially hung and where it will hang when the need arises in veg. Remember, a carbon scrubber in the tent creates negative pressure in the tent which is what you want when you get into flowering. It will also help to keep humidity down in the warmer months and pull the heat out. Make sure your vents on the bottom of the tent are open. Also, I use an idealair fan speed adjuster. It helps to maintain temperature in the tent and also helps to quiet the fan down.
6. My inline fan mounted on the celing outside the tent and ducted into my attic space. When it warms up outside I'll vent the tent outside through a roof vent.
7. Ducting bring room temperature filtered air into the tent to the hood.

Good luck with your grow dude. It's definitely a learning experience. Just let your plants do their thing. Easy on the nutes and light right now. Try to leave them alone and let them do their own thing. Buzz'd

Updated pics, I posted the smallest one first. But are they looking good? They're on 6 off now.
Aww they are so cute at that age, wait until they grow up and take over your tent and you have a job controlling them!!!

So I disconnected the carbon filter for now and just have it sucking the hot air through the hose only since there's really no need for it at this point. Will this be ok until they start to smell?

I'm glad to see that both jtdubz and Buzz'd have got their grows adjusted and running well, it's just a waiting game now. It will be interesting to see the end results of both.

Thanks Neo. I'm getting some new top growth but the top fan leaves seem to be yellowing on the tips already. I watered with 5.8 pH medium strength nutes on Wed and they still look like they are N deficient. I'm working on getting the root zone pH down too. It was at 6.7 which I understand to be too high for Hydro. As you said in your post, now it's just a waiting game. Here area few pics I took today.

You're growing in soil though Buzz? Your optimal PH should be 6.3 so 6.7 is not too far out. So 5.8 might be a bit too acidic for them and looks like it's still locking something out, did you measure the PH at run off? Did you top them too, it's probably not the best idea whilst you are having problems?

I'm growing in Promix HP. Yea, topping was another one of my setbacks. They don't seem to be doing any worse today and I'm gonna hold off for another day or two before I water just to make sure they are hungary. My instincts too are telling me that it's a pH issue that's causing lockout. I'm bringing the pH down and all I can do is wait and watch them.

Also, they have only been in the 3 gallon pots for less than 3 weeks, so I'm sure the roots are still developing.

Oh, by the way, don't these seedlings look more sativa dominant with the thin leaves?

Topping is super stressful on the plant, I only top if the plants booming with life. Make it easier on the plant so its not struggling with a def.

They look like a nice hybrid. Id say 60 40 sativa indy

Thanks dude....yea, I've made a lot of mistakes. This is my first grow. They are still living so I'll keep chugging along lol. I'll definitely do things differently next time.
