New Area 51 LED question

if it's the same price...........absolutely a better light arrangement===== better coverage for the same wattage/ flexible canopy adjustments/etc.

It's just half of the 150. It's the same thing people have been saying about bigger units..."I like more smaller panels so I can spread them and adjust individually"...That is no t how I feel but is the argument you will hear against bigger panels.
In reality it is all the same amount of light just cut into 2 lights...if you put the 2 sgs75's end to end it would be identical to the sgs150(in power, footprint, everything basically). The chips are driven the same in both so the intensity and penetration are the same.

I am going to use an AT analogy, so don't take this the wrong way EH. It's just like the at600 vs (4)at200's but on a smaller scale.

Price isn't that big of a difference and since EH brought it up I imagine he would probably give 2sgs75's for the same price as one sgs150.
 
Large panel is more convenient in terms of setup and wiring but multiple panels will cover the canopy more evenly (more efficient use of the light) and less canopy management is required because you can adjust the height of each panel. So even though it is the same amount of light it should translate into more bud.

That is exactly how I think of it. But so many people seem to think the opposite. If the smaller panels aren't close enough in hanging height and closeness, they won't gain as much like, you said, from each other as they would mounted evenly and piggy backing best together.
 
I would also agree with the majority in here and pick two smaller once vs one bigger panel, will be able to cover more ground more evenly, if I could break mine in half I would and maybe be able to keep em closer then 20" with out getting light bleach Bud´s in the center of the light

also, if one breaks you still have a functional one wile you wait for it to get fixed
 
I dont get why theyve moved away from their allwhites. Do any of you have more info about these new lights?
 
Damn, hadnt seen this one coming. I know Mycomaster has set up two of their all-white XGS-190 and it worked wonders for him, I have the former model, the SGS-160 and it has also worked out really well, so it came as quite the surprise that they're selling blue/red now instead of their daylight lamps. If you come across something, please let me know :)! Thanks
 
just realized that they are white bulbs :shock: My bad. Though not the same as mine, they are probably fine :) Still interested in seeing some results from them, though!

Pretty sure this new one is the updated SGS essentially. In the other thread EH talks about it a bit. He prefers the white and red, his partner prefers the all white he said. Or something like that.
 
IDK I think it would depend a lot on grow size/dimensions, application. I have 2 of the '13 SGS in the 3x3 with an older AF-90 for additional side/under lighting.. I wouldn't want to deal with the cords (power, hanging..) for 2 additional lamps if it would have almost no impact on the footprint..

With that said, I have had nothing but good results following the recommendations of the fine folks of A51.. but if you're trying to fill a 36"x20" I'm failing to see the real advantage of (2)75's over (1)150.
 
In a 2 x 4 space I would put a 75 on each side of a XGS/SGS, but angled in to assist penetration, bud development

How do you guys think 4 75's in A 4by4 would work? I was going to do 2 xgs's but like the red in these plus 4 set grid style will provide perfect distribution. Any thoughts?
