First grow.. Nutrients?

Hi guys,this is my first grow so when I go buy some nutes what should I be looking for??oh btw I am growing in soil..thanks..
 
Depends on if you want to go 100% organic or use synthetics.

I think all begginers should start with Lucas formula to get an idea of their plants nutritional requirements and a basic understanding of EC and pH.
 
I would recommend a simple two or three part fert. when I first started growing all there really was, was General Hydroponics Grow, Micro, and Bloom. The dosages on the bottles actually taught me fairly well how to tailor my ferts to my different light cycles(veg and flower). I believe GH now makes a two part, grow and bloom formula, I know theres about 100 nute companies that have a two part fert.

try GH. they pretty much spell it out for you and its super inexpensive. You could add a couple supplements to it, but I would keep it simple for your first grow. People seem to think you need every supplement on the market, but I have seen pretty much Identical results with a simple, base formula. Hope that helps! Don't fret! Its just a weed...

Don't listen to these people suggesting hydro nutes for your soil. If you're actually growing in soil, use nutrients meant for soil. Jacks classic or miracle grow with a limestone amended soil is is what you should be using for soil.

If you want to use hydro nutes, use an inert media. Don't use lucas formula, especially in soil.

Nutrients meant for soil will provide the majority of N as urea and ammonium, while nutrients meant for hydro will provide the majority of N as nitrate. It will tell you this on the back. Soil based nutrients usually lack calcium, so your soil needs to have lime mixed in before you start growing.

I grow in soil and have had good results with iguana juice. It is a two part grow and bloom. It's also organic. Never had a problem with it burning my plants. They say you dont have to flush it in the last weeks cause it's organic. I do just for safe measure.

I would Say that miracle grow is a BAD look bro. Ok so I know a lot of people that have used GH nutes in soil. they all had similarly good results. I would recommend a soilless medium. but thats just me. I agree that theres a lot of nutes that are tailored for soil and may be a better fit. For purpose of ease, and understanding EC/PPM I recommended GH. thats really the only reason. To deal with pH fluctuations I would recommend getting a ph test kit and ph up and down. along with come calcium and magnesium. mixing soil is sort of tricky for a total beginner
