...I added 16 :-?

thought the same thing when I was spreading it out over the mix and stopped at 16... Hyroot had said something about it is going to be a minute before it breaks down to a usable form.. should I be looking at nabbing up some glacial dust?

should I make more mix and add it to kind of dilute the amount of Azomite? I still have half a block of peat, id have to get the composts/ewc.. and another trashcan.
Yea do that,

i once made made a garden batch for a raised bed, I didn't think much about it but I threw in a fuck load of azomite, and within weeks my lettuce was being burnt to death, I then took half of it out and refilled with top soil and everything was cool, my theory is, if azomite isn't broken down, and the roots touch it, they will burn.

Not to fear, add the peat, and of course the compost/ewc, I'm sure it will be coo

Damn.. Kickin myself pretty good. Thank you for catching that, saved my sorry ass. Lol

Were the rest of the amendments way overdone as well? (Should I be amending the other 6cu.ft. when I add to dillute..)

what does that do to my cook time? I'm still looking at a full round before using it, but I do have 5 AoS in some Happy Frog I was really hoping would take there time..

Your mix looks great,

Just add the ewc/compost/peat

Look into a richer rock mix and lime mix (which really isn't much)

you got the oyster, I say add some home made oven roasted egg shell pulverized into dust, check here for pic tutorial https://www.rollitup.org/organics/636057-recycled-organic-living-soil-rols-4.html

get that glacial mix, and add that perlite, although I wish I used pumice or rice hulls instead, perlite won't really hurt, but can help in a long run.

like hyroot said, 2 months is what your looking at, non stop enzyme teas, lacto coconut water and within a month, test try it with a clone or add a bunch of Bahia seeds or Dutch clover or even cilantro to your batch so it can start adding more bio diversity to the mix.

I'm starting to think clover attracts white flies. That may be red clover. I remember cann had pests and he used dutch clover. that might not be related. go with Bahia grass seed for companion crop.

Thanks guys, newb move throwing all that in the mix...

So my original numbers of Kelp/oyster/alfalfa/Vegan Mix are good for 12cu.ft. as well? I just want to have a good understanding of how much I should add for down the road, still kind of shady on reamending later on.

Glad you said something about the eggshells, I have a cracked carton drying out on top of one of my cabs that the lady used up for me... that means extra munchies around the house too :hump: I still have to find a bowl and pestil (sp?) my local target didn't have em. I am planning on pickin dandelions like a mad man this summer, if I had known..... holy shit.....

Ill get on the glacial dust, I wish I could source all these amendments like you lucky ducks, HYROOT!!! Gotta order all that shit.

I already don't like perlite....... lol. I've brewed a few teas with the cooking mix, I DO really like vermiculite though? its almost a sawdust feel?! I used mostly that (I think it was 3:1 vermiculite: perlite) Being such a differnet consistency than perlite it worries me thinking its a direct replacement for perlite (retention?)

and thank you again, 2 months isnt horrible... I should be getting my other order of se3ds today or monday, though I wont be popping any of them for some time.

You two keep an eye out, think my next thread may be over there. be safe everyone!

any kitchen store or home store should have pestle n mortar, walmart maybe. macy's home store , bloomingdales home store, williams sonoma, crate and barrel, restaurant depot, plus amazon and ebay and google shopping and target has them online too. they are made from either lava stone, marble, granite, steal, ceramic, wood, brass.

I don't like perlite either. its all I c an find locally. i got lazy with my mix. a good amount of the perlite powder got in. its too much of a pain i the ass to completely separate. especially indoors.

Thank you hyroot, I am going to have to hit up a few of those places, I DID get the other couple cubic feet of compost (castings and AF) today, so Ill be mixing all that up some time, but I do have a question- should I be gettin Vermiculite for equal parts aeration too?

Were they done.,? probably not, was I..? Yep. Need to get some things done around here and the first run in a new area is always a "Trial" so I can go through and tidy up and reorganize how I want my filter and lights oriented... Got a good amount of trim for butta. Woop woop! Drying in some coollllld ass weather, gonna take some time... but a nice 53% going right now, fannntastic.

Be safe everybody!

Nice head stash it will be. Your environment was a struggle for the girls. But will be perfect for drying. My addict in used to be 50*/50% in the winter and always gave me the best finished product. Patience is a virtue.

I never used vermiculite. I'd imagine its the same amount. Best is pumice or rice hulls. Both are hard to find. At least in my hood. So next I guess would be perlite. I read somewhere vermiculite is bad. I forget why. I'll get back to you on that.

edit:

vermiculite holds water longer than perlite

unpure vermiculite contains traces of asbestos and alumina sodium. Pure vermiculite does not. Since 1990 mines have been tested for asbestos. It depends where the vermiculite is mined I guess.

I should be asking YOU the same thing sir! Hows those pretty ladies looking? Thanks though!

Naw I went and got my bags of Ancient Forest and castings, still haven't pulled looked at an old Vermiculite bag and decided what I am gonna do yet.. Really don't like the idea of perlite.

***I do have a question about adding trimmings to the soil- do you have to let em dry out, then ground em up, or can I just toss em in there moist and let em break down? Threw a handful in one trashcan the other day and mycelium is just going nuts again. Woop!

I may be posting pictures of my Fruity Chronic clone in soil, getting some lower leaf deficiencies here in the ol' Happy Frog mix (no nutes) Nice rust spots and a hungry yellow.. Only thing she has been fed is a tea of: kelp, alfalfa, oyster meal, and compost/castings...

Should I be topdressing her with castings? I would like to avoid using DynaGro on 'er

Alot of my old fox farm grows always ended up with cal/mag defs. You really have to add cal/mag to the water, yea even in your teas... Why? Idk? Thats why instopped usong fox farm years ago, i think its a conspiracy theory, they design their soil to be used with bottle nutes no matter what. Lol

yea go ahead and add the leaves as a whole in the mix, add casting/compost on top and it will degrade quickly.
If you started with your worm bins, you can also add them in there.

can u source pumice? And or rice hulls? If not, fk it, perlite will do, my mix has a mixture of perlite/pumice. Will be adding rice hulls to my next summer batch.

My yoda grow is currently day 3 of flip, but i wont update until its officially day one of flower :)

ARRRGHH! Thats okay, I hope all is well in your part!

Honestly, I wasn't aware what Rice hulls were, so after some googling and wiki'ing.... you know, I think I may be able to get some from a local store. They have a large section of chicken/horse/farming so maybe...

I dono what Im gonna do about the FCJ, it'll probably be the first thrown into the cooking mix to see if it is good, dono how long it can go in a solo cup? Some good looking new growth every day. Watering every 3-5 days (been doing 5 lately..), noticed the soil was REALLY wet in the PCC contenders... maybe too cool down there.

Also I did get my 660's and drivers in this week, so im tinkering trying to figure out if I am going to stick with my original design, mix it up a bit, go straight Reds, add more 660s, or keep whites. Not sure yet. But i did get em! Hell of a lot better shipping than the 730s, which my second order is still somewhere....

Still haven't sourced Agsil 16h, amazon didn't like how I typed it. But it sounds like i would not need it for Silica if I end up sourcing Rice Hulls?

No need for vagisil (hehe)
you can source sillica with other methods, rice hulls is one of them. I like horse tail, it cures powedry mildew and also is great in npks and sillica
