Good cheap soils?

No cheap soil or dirt from the yard. You are growing the most valuable plant and using cheap old dirt, it doesnt work very well.
If your on a tight budget use these, at least they will work for about $5 . -

INDOOR GROWS - Shop bought soil that has been heat treated

OUTDOOR GROWS
---------------------------- - The soil can be made your self i would not spend loads on out door soil spend more on what you add to it,worm casting ext,But nothing is wrong with mulsh and farm yard shyt for out door crops but i would never ever use un treated soil indoors,if you do like the comment says above you are risking a plant that is valuble prob the 3rd most valuble plants on earth after poppies = heroin, and coca leaf = coke,

well where im at it gets hot
so after my barnyard mix gets piled up and turned in and cooks for a while
ill put it in a black garbage bag about 3-5 gals and close it up then smash it so its thinned out some and leave it in the sun for a week or more sometimes
helps kill of the critters

but heat treating really only kills of the beneficials
seeing how bugs can get in the soil in the long wait between producer and costumer
and you are depending on someone else for quality control

A good tip is get some of the smaller gage fenceing wire the small square one without the plastic some have on it put the soil on top and put over a open fire,add some of the pot ash from the fire during this process it works a treat,i use the air tight bags too but i only ever do small amounts for out door seedlings but i suppose ya could do it on a large scale,i do this with the cow and horse manure too it works a treat.

It might sound stupid too but i have found in out door grows onions growing a long side the plants helps with pest,just like they do when growing veg,plant carrots and onions togeather and the onions stop carrot fly.

There is all ways something in nature to combat pest i also plant strong smelling things like wild garlic and every so often i just smash them a little with a stick helps with the smell of the cannabis

yeah, MG has given me problem for sure, never with FF though. thats the way to go, local farmers usually have great soil for the low, would be buying all my supplies from a farmer if i could but its not so easy to come across in central FL. gals look nice though, and the soil helps for sure, you gotta remember microbes are a huge factor in growth.

What? Not easy in central FL? Dude there's 15 grow shops in a 5 mile radius of Orlando. Not to mention the countless numbers of nurseries in and around the Apopka/Oviedo/Winter Springs area. Sounds to me like you just don't care enough to look around for the things you need to have a successful grow.

Lukas Nursery in Oviedo has FFOF for $16 a bag (1.5 cu/ft), and they get fresh shipments of it every week. Plus they market their own soils that are cheaper than that. Don't make excuses why you can't do things, figure out a way to fix the problem.

Sounds to me like you just don't care enough to look around for the things you need to have a successful grow.

lol everything i listed i can get at lowes minus the loam but the hapi aggro potting soil can be used to substitute it and its like $ 3 - 4 a bag

Living in Cali you should be using Fox Farms; it's not much more than MG there and it's a lot better. You can amend it with stuff but it's great right out of the bag.

yes, im aware theres nurseries im saying i wanted to buy directly from the farmer, nurseries soil is good but id rather talk to the guy who knows exactly whats in it, not to say nursery made soils arent reliable i just like to know what im growin with, they dont always provide that type of info. why i take composting into my own hands nowadays.

fox farm is alright, but I got two batches with a bunch of F-in weeds in them. Pissed me off...
But it was a blessing in disguise, because I then tried the vermifire, which I LOVE. And have been using for yrs now, good stuff. Give it a shot, it's better than the rest, in my opinion.
