What is this pre-filter(photo)

So I need a carbon filter for exhaust, but need to get a filter for the intake. Is that what the "pre-filter" is here for sale on virtual sun?

mine has one as well, it's just a prefilter like you said, mostly collects tons of dust and crap on mine, so i take it off and wash it out every so often..

I thought they meant like a separate filter, like one for intake and another for exhaust. I guess I need a hepa filter + carbon filter. I like your Powell take on Jack Nicholson. Yea heard?!

and no, the prefilter thingy just wraps around the outside of the cf, i guess just to help keep the cf a bit cleaner..

The pre-filter is for the carbon filter, goes over it if your sucking through it, supposed to go inside if your blowing through it. It's to keep particles from clogging your carbon filter. If you have a passive intake and maintain negative pressure inside your grow there would be no reason for odor control on your intake. Just a filter to keep debris, pet hair, and whatever other shit from entering the grow.

Yea I'm gonna get a simple hepa filter for my intake and let the carbon filter control odor. Got it. Thanks
