315w CMH Bulbs? Agro vs MasterColor T12/T9

I'm looking at getting a few CMH 315w fixtures that don't come with bulbs.
I see the following options:
Philips Master Color 3100k T12
Philips Master Color 3100k T9
Philips Elite Agro 930 T12

Anyone try more than one of these or other options I didn't see? I'm getting a couple of fixtures to try and need to choose my bulbs.

I'm especially interested in the T9 due to the single envelope and increased UVB, but what actually happens if it blows? Is there any real significant risk with only plastic, plants and mylar exposed? I don't see many ignition possibilities short of a flaming hot projectile penetrating the sheetrock and hitting a 2x6. That would be an unlikely and impressive occurrence I would think?

So what ballast are you guys using? 400w adjustable or something? I can't find a CMH specific one on those sites.

It has to be a magnetic ballast.
Can you be more specific? Like a model number or a link to one that has been working well for you/somebody for a while? I got a good deal on my fixtures (didn't pay yet) so the ballasts need to be $150 to my door to compete.

Actually I only researched a bit, I was hoping to be able to use my digital ballast, but since I can't , I've stuck with HID. If you're in Halifax, yes, I know where to get them.

Just Google magnetic ballast.

Good luck

Nevermind, I found the model number in the small white print and found it. thanks.

I included the barcode so you could use an imaging app like google goggles to look it up on your phone...

I also included the barcode on the bulb.

My bulbs are 4K spectrum and I haven't seen any problems using this spectrum.

These 315w DO NOT use the 400w magnetic ballast. The 315w need their own specially made ballast.

The 860w CDM bulbs can be used with a 1000w magnetic ballast with no problems.

Any questions just ask.

the elite agro and allstart fro. Philips are the best. The elite agro only runs on fixtures that are 240v and the mastercolor is for the 120v fixture's. The lec 315 at growers house.

I've just gotten through running a head to head; 860W CDM lamps vs (Plantmax) HPS thouies. CDM did not make weight, and the frost wasn't significantly different from HPS runs.

The only way I would recommend the 860W CDM technology is to use them to balance spectrum with HPS. I'm working on a plan to do this.

Meanwhile, I'm very interested in the 315W CDM tech, myself. Problem is, how many do I need to replicate two HPS thouies' worth of lighting?

I'm not sure tbh.

I've heard that the 315w CMH is more comparable to a 600w HPS than to a 400w... If that's the case then you'd need 2 315s to replace one 1000w.

I'm also interested in spectrum mixing, let me know what you find.

4-5 would be my guess. I'm waiting on mine to arrive. They will be supplemented with LEDs.

I think any kind of light mixing is beneficial. I've seen some bad ass grows with mh/hps, cfl/led, cfl/hps, led/cmh.

I think its the overlapping spectrums that make them more successful, and I can't see it going badly in very many ways...

Agreed. I'm not worried about over lighting things, I'm only running 20W/ft². Adding a CDM would take it to thirty- that's still basically HALF of the generally accepted 55W/ft² conventional flatlander grow standard!
