can you post pics? Sounds like you have a good hunch that it's overwatering...it took me some time to get used to when to water and how much, but it'll get easier with time. Letting it completely dry out is kinda counterproductive, cuz keeping it moist keeps the microherd buzzing, but you definitely don't want it overly damp either. It's hard to say exactly how much to water and how often since it can vary a lot depending on things like the aeration / drainage of the soil, the humidity / temps, ventilation and airflow in the grow room, etc...once you learn to read the plant, watering will be much easier. They'll let you know when things are too wet or too dry, and you can dial it in from there - but first you gotta know what signs to look for n that's gonna take a little practice/experience...
