About the best defense I could offer in such a situation would be the flinging of the feces accumulated in my pants.Iv'e been trained to deal with aggressive people but in no way have I been prepared for anything like that.Sawing a head off takes quite a bit of strength as does stabbing someone guy was crazy out of control crazy and the only safe way to deal with him would have been from a distance,can't really make that happen on a bus.
You might not be able to tell what you would do in such a situation, but you can certainly tell what you SHOULD do. And the answer is that in this situation people should have tried to stop the man with the knife. If one person had helped, others would have too, and if they had attacked the knife wielder together it is unlikely that any of them would die. Even if they feared for their lives, it is still the right thing to do. Fear should not hold you back from helping someone in a life or death situation unless you are guaranteed to die with them by helping.

A trucker stopped on the side of the side and gave a passanger a crowbar and he had one himself. They were able to keep him in the back armed with those. So technically people did help and try to stop him. But honestly the cops shoudl have just killed him on the spot. Did anybody else read the police transmission where the guy was eating the flesh?

I am sorry you feel that way about Canada. I personally would be too shocked at witnessing someone cutting another's head off to do anything. It is disturbing someone could do something like that. What would you have done if you were there?
Disarm him of the knife and break the fuckers neck, all that takes is 3 seconds of your time... sorry, nothing against Canada but that bus was full of pussies.

Yeah in the U.S. I bet at least one person would've had a knife on them or another type of weapon. I'm not saying they'd do anything because the guy may have been like a fucking ninja and seriously this is gonna sound fucked up but...by the time you can stab/disarm the psycho the victim would've been stabbed like 4 times...okay nvm I guess they coulda saved the guy. Whats with all the Asian people going berserk and fucking shit up(not in the badass way)? I woulda tried to be ninja like and sneak up behind the killer and stick him in the back of the neck. But seriously I woulda just tried to stab him in the back of the neck...The flesh eater is planning on going on a stabbing marathon I doubt he'd be too focused on his surroundings.

i think that at least one person should have made a move on that guy. it only takes one to lead by example then more people should have jumped in. i think a whole bus full of people can fuck one guy up. then maybe that man would still be alive. the thing to take away from this is that people need to step out of their little world and help a fellow human being out when they are in need.

Well the quote says "Several motorists called 911 and tried to stop the beating, authorities said." I think they mean they tried to stop the beating by calling 911 cause if they tried to take the guy down the news would've reported that. I'm not sure though.
no they tried. i followed the story when it happened. several people tried to jump on him and he pushed them away. he was on a rampage. the cops had to kill him to get him to stop.

What were those "bystanders" 15 years old? As far as I know several people v. 1 guy and the several people will at least be able to move the guy back if not take it as far as killing him. It makes it seem like they didn't try very hard how could he stomp on a baby and fight people off? What did they try a few times then walk back to their cars cause the guy really wanted to stomp on the baby? Did none of them have anything they could use as a weapon (pen, keys, fist)?

Depends how he attacks you... for instance if he lunges to stab you then side-step him and grab his wrist, then do whatever you can to release his grip on the knife... without it he's powerless.... and as righton says, lead by example... someone else would've stepped in to help by that point, probably a few.... people are sheep, all it takes is one to go and the rest will follow...

There was a story on msnbc the other day of another guy doing this same crap. He beheaded his gf and ran around the town holding her head...It was in Greece.

Lol, yeah I'm Asian too and I don't think the killer being Chinese has nothing to do with his intent to kill... All psychos come in different colors and sizes... But it's weird that whenever there is a random killing in some unknown city you've never heard of before, it's the asian guy doing it!!!

Everybody keeps saying things like this but honestly if you saw a guy doing an act as brutal as this I bet almost everybody here would not touch him.
But the victim was dead before anybody could have helped. Apparently he was stabbed in the neck first.
