What should my ppm be for my nutrient solution

Can someone explain how to read and use a ppm meter.. and what the ppm of my nutrient water should be before i feed my plants..

For example if my water out of my tap runs at 150 ppm and i need 250 ppm for a seedling do i just add nutrients to get it up to 250 ppm?

If you are using a General Hydro product or just about any reputable nute you can look up the Lucas Formula on Google and there will be a million links that explain ppm and give you good nute recipes. This formula was developed specifically for Cannabis and works well, even though someone on here is going to tell you otherwise lol. Hope it helps.

I would say the water's PPM is in addition to whatever the product tells you to feed. Which product is it? I'm curious how they tell you to feed. I wouldn't think they'd know what your water quality is.

Sensi grow a+b for veg
big bud, bud candy, nirvana, overdrive flawless finish and rhino skin for flower.. and the directions say 2 ml per liter for pretty much all of them.. but that's not what I'm asking .. i pretty much kno my feeding schedule i jus need to kno all the ppms I'll need my water at for different stages of growth

Don't those products tell you to feed in ml? They don't get into the level of ppm, right? In that case, your water ppm is in addition to whatever ppm results from 5ml of Sensi Grow (for example).

I will try to explain the ppm thing for you using my method which is the Lucas formula with my nutes which are as fallows, GH Flora Nova and good old Super Thrive. So when the plants are young and I mean babies I stick to about 400 ppm. As they get bigger I ramp them up usually in 200 ppm increments by the time they are about a foot tall they get a full does of 1300 ppm and that's where they stay for me. Depending on the strain and type of nute you can go well beyond this number people do all the time with the same nute I use but this is a safe level and produces good results for me.

Hope this shed a little light on the ppm issue.

That's what I thought so for seedlings if my water comes out at 100 ppm and i need it to get to 250 ppm i jus at 150 ppm worth of nutes right? That's what I've been hearing and reading up on .. i jus think it's better to get multiple opinions versus just one

Why do you keep saying you need to get 250ppm? I thought we just concluded the instructions say how many ml to feed. If that volume of fertilizer produces 250ppm that would be in addition to the ppm of your water.

Because from this chart I read says seedlings should b 100-250 ppm and if my tap water is already 100 ppm then I would only have to add 150 more ppm .. that seems like most logical thing

Or r u saying if this chart I'm reading says the ppm for a seedling should b 250..and my tap is coming out at 100 ppm my total ppm before i feed should b 350?
