NextLight LED

bought a NEXTLight LED grow light. It is 525 watts from the wall. The LED grow lights I've seen/used focus on red and blue only, and the this is a white light that matches the spectrum of an HPS for the curve. The intensity even 24 inches away is even GREATER than a 1000 watt. The light falls off dramatically about 4 feet out however, (so these cover about a 3x3 amazingly.)

What do you guys think about these?

it's wayyyyyyy brighter to the eye than the 1000 I have hanging next to it, curious to see how much it adds to my grow

This is similar to what I keep seeing on a lot of led par footprint charts.
Let's take the 30" chart since 585 is probably the minimum par most would consider even acceptable for producing flowers - at the 2x2 footprint the led is only giving 22 par vs 480 par on the hps 2x2 footprint at 30"
What the hell are you going to grow with 22 par?

that is a 4x4 chart for both hps and led
it will cover a 3x3 space nicely almost matching a 1k hps

Why don't they promote that they use Cree,can't find it on their web site. Seems like if you use quality parts you should advertise that,not just "the best LEDs money can buy". I don't care for the design,it's similar to Onyx in that they pack the LEDs tightly together,even more so on the Next,so that it has huge numbers directly under the unit but the numbers fall drastically outside it's foot print. I think the problem maybe that they don't understand both sides of the business,they understand the tech but not the grow side so well.

thanks! I have it alongside a 1k Hortilux and expect to see great results

this guy was able to get 6 lbs off a 4x8 table using 6 of them.

it's not so much that they will replace a 1000, it's that you can get a cluster of these lights together inside a smaller and get amazing coverage with little heat and good spectrum I'm excited to see what I can do along side the bulk of an hps

I would definitely say that is GOOD not Outstanding however since it fell just short of the 1 gpw holy grail a lot of people are after!

good point I'm glad you worked out the numbers I had never though about the coverage per sq ft in that setup and number of lights!

would have been pretty cool to see him pull that yield off of just 4

If your going for max yield per sq/ft the .85 GPW would not be a concern but at 98 watts a sq/ft you would expect way more. The density of the light is it's main problem,if the energy were more evenly spread over a larger area it would perform better. Too much energy in the center and not enough at the edge of the coverage area.

That was the exact note I made to myself when I came across these lighting fixtures in a random hydroponics store earlier last month; to anyone who can't distinguish between quality and junk, the phrase works well.

These lighting fixtures seem to boast some quality within the lighting department but it's disappointing for me to go into a hydroponics store and to not find any information regarding chip brand, color, and/or quality when browsing through the LED lighting fixture section, only to instead glance upon claims such as "the best LEDs money can buy" or 'the greatest LEDs in the world!'.

Luckily things are changing for the better and it won't be long before the LED market becomes more transparent as a whole.

With 6 would they be getting some of the "overlapping" effect? At least in the middle areas of the tray

For the uninitiated fledgling grower, do you think the uL cert and birdhouse are worth the $1300 plunge? Be honest....

He already bought it, I wanna see what it can do! That's all.... Are their better options out there for the price? Absolutely.......DIY isn't always an option though, especially in medical states where insurance will cover damage in a licensed MJ grow, hobbyist or commercial......No matter. If your fixture(s) doesn't have the certs, well that couple hundred saved in a build for a minor efficiency bump will seem counterproductive to say the least ........
granted a rare occurrence with logical safety measures.

This fixture and the handful of other
ul listed led panels have their place until cob based are passed........hasn't happened yet, I don't know why? Nick(next light) doesn't like them, "hot spots" and cooling issues when encased== which is INCORRECT in a properly designed system.
