My first grow log. ALL ADVICE WELCOME

So I am thinking about not updating this anymore on THIS site. As a "noob" I wanted the best chance to obtain as much knowledge and advice that I possibly could, so of course I am a part of multiple sites. And it is starting to become too much work to maintain a log when nothing comes from it.

I have had a few very helpful tips. It could be argued that those few pieces of advice is worth the extra work, but I would disagree. In the past 2 weeks I have had TWO people comment or give me some tips compared to SIXTEEN people post either a sarcastic remark or just plain rude. Compared to others, those numbers are horrible.

It sucks because there are a few very knowledgeable and considerable people that are members to this site, but they are severely over shadowed by all the ignorant douche bags.

Do I care about the rude and obscene comments? Not at all. And THAT IS MY POINT! If all I will receive is comments that I do not care about, then why would I spend an extra 15+ minutes at a time to update all of this? All of you that are as busy as I am understand the value of an extra 15-30 minutes.

However, I will probably continue to put the work into updating this log because if this eventually helps just ONE person or just ONE person gives some advice that saves a possible loss of my plants, then all the extra work would be worth it. (BTW if I spend only 15-20 minutes every 2 days for the entirety of the 5 month cycle, although you all can see I have posted much more than every other day, that equates to AT LEAST 1,125 minutes which equals just under 19 hours)

I just want anyone who follows or reads this log to know that there is an overwhelming amount of inexperienced trolls here. My advice is to keep trying until you find a person who DOES know what they are talking about and not pay attention to ANYONE ELSE. Here is how you can spot a good grower:

- The person will give constructive criticism (yes, they will tell you what you are doing wrong because THEY ARE ARTISTS)
- They will either tell you how to fix your problem or they will point you in the correct direction so you may figure it out for yourself
- THEY WILL ALWAYS ASK FOR PICS (Too many different ways to describe any single thing. An experienced grower will gain an exponentially larger understanding of an issue if they can see pics)
- They will provide a "when I did it this way" response to ensure their knowledge comes from experience

Those are only a few ways to tell. Sure, a fake could still do all those things, but then I would feel sympathy for the individual since they are apparently seriously mentally handicapped and has an extreme issue with lying.

Anyways, I needed to get this all out there and I am much lighter because of it. And of course I made sure to put some helpful advice mixed in there lol.

To anyone this may help and to anyone that helps me or anyone else, I thank you and as always....STAY GREEN!!
Hey rez what going on man hope all is well with u and the babys. If u dont mind me askong whay other sites do you frequently vist and don't let these fools get to you....

Here are pics from today.

I frequent 3 others. I will send u the names later when I remember lol. As for the fools, I am big on stats and numbers. It was mindblowing when I realized the concentration of douche bags here. But the shrinks were right after all....it does help to write your frustrations down haha

I have a question and it is driving me insane.

How do you measure your PH? I have been cross checking with a meter (hanna), the drips, and paper. My question is referring to the actual PROCEDURE. For example:

Do you add all the nutrients into your water and immediately check pH? Do you check PH in between each nute? Do you wait a certain amount of time after adding the nutes before you check pH? Do you shake/stir the solution after adding the nutes, then check pH immediately or do you wait for a particular amount of time? It is driving me insane!!

I am VERY familiar with pH (after all I do have chemistry and biology degrees and I AM a bio engineer), but I do know pH is very sensitive and methods of testing can vary based off of 1)chemicals/elements in the solution 2)volume of solution being tested 3)Concentration/ppm of solution.

Since just transplanted into FFOF, I am not adding any N-P-K. I am adding CalMag, root magic, and silica blast (once or twice). This is my procedure:

Test the distilled water.
Add the "nutes"
Shake for about 10 seconds
Allow to set for 5 minutes
Test Ph
Add PH up/down as needed
stir solution
Allow to set for a few minutes
test pH

This is when it is crazy. After adding CalMag, my Ph is usually around 7-7.5. I would add some Ph down and then my ph would read 8.2 (not contaminated because I have went through 4 bottles now in case they were. THEY ALL DO THE SAME) However, if i let it sit for a bit more, the PH could be as low as 5.8 the VERY NEXT READING WITHOUT ADDING A SINGLE THING!!

So please.....help me out!! I am posting this here because, well, you all already know my opinions about majority of the people here.

Thanks

Have u noticed that you have more views than me? Lol. I am thinking of a pic update once a week or once every two weeks. Or maybe just when someone requests an update. Doing a log is as much of a learning process as the actual grow

From today.

Im running dwc rez but while my bucket is filling with tap water I pour in my nutes so the water mixs together naturally then give it a stir.I test with the drops so I scope up some water up in a little blood tube I have and add three drops of gj pH solution and it changes color I keep my bubblers anywhere from 5.7 to 6.0. I just started cloning and placed one in soil but took it out 24 hours later because I don't know how to check pH in soil duh lol I got ahead of my self.

For soil.....you check the run off after watering. Capture some of the runoff water in the test tube (try to make sure not to get any clumps of soil) and drip a few drops in there and VOILA!!

I know how to do that and I have been getting extremely lucky (mainly due to extreme detailed observation of my plants). Since I cannot seem to get a steady pH reading of my solutions, I have been measuring the run off EVERY TIME I WATER. I check the plants twice a day and if I see stunted growth or any deficiencies I create a weak solution and pH it to try to get everything correct. I have only had to "ph flush" my plants once so far. But I have a feeling my luck will run out very soon

So to pH soil you pH your water and then give it to plant and that will drop pH of your soil is that correct.... Also I'm not sure of your soil make up but people swear by lime keeping their soil pH just right just a after thought.

To pH soil:

-The first watering of soil, make sure to pH the watering solution first. (This is the problem for me.)
-Give enough water for about a 20% run off (if you use a gallon or 3.7 liters, you would want around .75 liters)
-Try to catch the run off as soon as possible into the test tube
- Measure pH of the run off
- Take the number you get and subtract it from the pH of your solution (if solution was 6.5 and the run off was 5.8, then 6.5-5.8=.7) This new number is your adjustment margin
- After each watering, you should see the pH of the soil become closer to the solution pH by .50-1.70 until the run off is the same as the solution (+/- 0.15)
-If pH is out of range, check back on the plants within 12 hours. They will tell you if it is a real problem. If they look problematic, adjust the pH in a "weak flush" solution by the adjustment margin (Using the original example the solution pH was 6.5 and run off was 5.8. If plants show negative signs, make the "weak flush" around 7.10-7.20. This will adequately raise the pH of soil to a cannabis friendly level).

I hope i answered your question. Let me know

Decided to LST. Here are the "right after" and "8 hours later"

When you lst it looks like they not growing but they are the lower nodes as you know grow more rapidly in my opinion..how old are they .

They are 31 days from seed. I have thought that growth was stunted when I had the pH problem.

Here are pics from 4 hours ago

This is why I planned for a 3 month veg

Also, they were slightly root bound when I transplanted.

I have also decided that I will transplant one more time when I finally flip to flower. I will (unless learn otherwise) transplant into 7 gallon smart pots (I have heard that they natural prune roots for healthier and better nutrient uptake. I do know that feeding can be a bit trickier so I was thinking of making use of my sprayer and moisten the perimeter everyother day. I will learn more before then I am sure).

Either way I am sure another transplant will be necessary. I have no seen, so far, a 5-6 month old plant thriving in just a 5 gallon pot. I have seen a 5.5 gallon, so transplant will be necessary.

I hear u my soil knowledge is EXTREMELY limited that is my next task to master they are rather small to be that old but it is common knowledge that hydro doubles the size of plants in the same amount of time. I wish I can be more helpful but you are the man of the hour.
