Would you consider buying a VERO after reading through some of the posts?

Do you already have the V18? If not I would suggest the V29s. 2 V18@ 50 watts each is 11500 lumen. 2 V29@ 50 each is 14200 lumen. This means you would need 23.5 more watts with the V18 to have the same lumen output. You could do 2 V29s with a CEN100-36 (must be ran in parallel) and later add 2 more to the set-up to get one COB over each square foot. Should only cost about $140.

You have to match LED needs in betwen current ant and voltage to run it, but if youre looking for higher lm/w i would suggest buying cree cxb like 3590 or something like that

or you could buy chinese driver as i did for my mother light and use vero's if you already have them and are not looking into huge efficiency and just want to deal with heat

I have a small chinese led in there now. It's about 150watts draw power. One of them blurple lights. That's why I want to start with two V18s and then add more if needed. That's the reason for the single drivers as well. Which driver will grow a bigger bud? Thanks CanadianONE
The driver is not going to dictate how well your plants grow, It will however translate to how much power you use (Efficiency)

The softer I run the cobs the higher the par watts I get the less heat watts I get. Did I get that correct?
Precisely but the softer you run them the more you need to achieve the right amount of output. As you can see from my example above @ 2.1A you have higher total wattage 131w VS 122w @ 1.05A but the gain in efficiency running them softer means you get more usable light for plant growth and have to deal with less heat.

I don't have the Veros yet. Got myself 2 arctic alpine 11 plus to start. V29s you say. 4 total for each square foot. My main concern with the 29s is heat. Would it be too hot in there. Currently if room temp is 72-74f, tent temp will be 79-83 with the chinese led. I have an exhaust fan with a scrubber on. Will the HLG-185H-C1400A be good fit to start running two 29s and later on (when have more budget) add two more? Or is the HLG-120H-C1050A a better fit? Thanks guys

Why are we speaking Lumen's? are you growing human babies in your nursery lol Lumens are the total amount of visible light emitted by a source. The luminous flux measurements reflect the varying sensitivity of the human eye to different wavelength of light.

All things equal with spectrum(bridgelux vero 3K vs bridgelux vero 3K)...lumens work as well as anything avaible on the datasheet and you don't have to derive a thing. Why the hostility...especially towards a long time led user.

4 vero18 on the hlg in a 2x2 give a better spread and less heat imo

I agree much better spread with 4 vero 18 @ 1.05A and only 15.52 heat watts more to deal with. I think thats a good trade off for the better spread IMO

Vero 29 4000K @ 1.4A 43.88% efficient x 2 = 101 dissipated watts ( 44.72 par watts / 57.2 heat watts) EDIT: 14,342 lumens

Vero 18 4000K @ 2.1A 33.81% efficiency x 2 = 131 dissipated watts (44.29 par watts / 86.71 heat watts) EDIT: 14,279 lumens

Vero 18 4000K @ 1.05A 40.55% efficiency x 4 = 122.32 dissipated watts (49.6 par watts / 72.72 heat watts) 16,000 lumens

I am in no way being hostile hence the reason I put lol at the end of the first part of my comment it was a complete joke. I guess you are right when comparing the exact same COB and just looking for a simple comparison as to total light output. I just hate using the term lumen when speaking about plant growth especially when you are unsure of the other persons knowledge towards efficiency and LED lighting in general. I think using the term lumen can be taken the wrong way by someone who doesnt have as much knowledge as yourself @Greengenes707. If all they take out of that conversation is the higher the lumens the better the outcome they might buy something off the simple fact it has a high lumen output (possibly with horrible efficiency) and then be turned off by LED's because of a bad experience. Just looking out that's all. @nevergoodenuf hope you didn't take that comment as hostility and if you did my sincere apology. I guess I haven't been around here long enough to throw a joke around.

I am on a budget but I want to get the right setup and be done with it. If I have to wait a little longer, so be it. You can post different opinions. It doesn't have to be an arguement. Thanks for everyone's help. If any of you guys was in my shoes, which setup will you guys choose?

Check out the 2 grow's in my sig. for my setup. My build is 4 V29s ($31 each including holder and picos) on a meanwell CEN100-36 (under $50), and heat sink (no sure, I had mine). Later, if you want to jump up to 200 watts, then switch to 2 drivers on your 4 COBs. As for reflectors, I like the Idea of only one short reflector around the perimeter. Really increases edge intensity without making the inner COBs reflect off something first.
